Will you be picking up a Nintendo Switch 2 to play ACNH - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition?

I was watching Kit & Krysta’s latest video, and they were talking about today’s announcement of Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition.

They mentioned how Nintendo seems to be using this 3.0 Update and the reasonably priced Switch 2 Edition as a way to encourage players to finally move from the original Switch to the new system.

What do you think — does this make you more likely to pick up a Switch 2? Or is it not enough to convince you yet?

No, not at all. I’m so glad that there’s a free update. The switch 2 edition stuff is minimal and I don’t feel like I’d be missing out at all if I hold off on getting a switch 2. I think if anything, it probably means it’ll be longer before I do get one. Because I expect the next animal crossing won’t be for a while now.

I'm picking up a Switch 2 for other reasons but I am excited to at least play with the Switch 2 edition since it reduces so much of the lag and item pop-in. However, if those other reasons didn't exist I most likely wouldn't get a Switch 2 JUST for that.

At the moment I will still be using my Switch Lite as I prefer smaller handheld consoles. I might of maybe bought a Switch 2 if there was a completely new game that was only on the new Switch.

I am happy that this is a free DLC :)

No. I'll probably buy a Switch 2 eventually, but it won't be for AC specifically.

Though when I do get a Switch 2, I'll buy the upgrade for it so it looks and runs nicer.

Short answer; no.

Mostly because I just barely purchased a (used) Switch only several months ago (wow, just August 5...), and a newer console would be pricier. Plus as others have mentioned, the Switch2 updates seem to be minimal compared to the overall expansion, so it seems.

Like I don't believe more than a third of the video was about the Switch 2 update.

Will say I don't really want to get "left behind" too much though... if this is the last update before they release a new game 2 years later (seems like most games have been spaced apart by about 7 years more or less), I'd maybe consider a Switch 2 at that point and purchasing the new game.
