Will villagers change their own clothes?

The other day I went into T-Bone's house, and he had Lobo over...and was wearing a girls sports top...I didn't know what I walked in on...

Anyways, there is no possible way that top was gifted to him as I'm the sole inhabitant of my island. I just dunno how/why he was wearing it...

Lol. Yes. Villagers will give other villagers outfits. But it's even worse when a villager asks you to give another villager a gift that they left behind. Mott sometimes wears a front-tie button-down shirt. It's not something I'm proud of giving to him. It just looks silly.
