Will this trick work?

I'm trying to originalise the lifestyles of my villagers, and I'm currently doing furniture they put up in Re-Tail. Robin is next, with two items up in Re-Tail. That's her stereo and gerbera.

However, in Squirrel, when I tried to resend Mint's original furniture, she replaced her other furniture with it and I'm afraid Robin will do the same.

Has anyone tried this trick? Will it originalise their house, or make matters worse?

You need luck over anything else while doing this but it'll work after some tries.

I like to keep some of my villagers homes original. The way I do this is by not giving them gifts from other villagers, filling Re-tail with shells and flowers so they can't sell the items you give them, customize items when appropriate and most of all, a whole lot of patience.

I actually didn't think of it before T-Bone put up an item...

And also, I still don't have my answer. First reply is a bit vague, too. I want a clearer one.

If I want to change their clothing or furnitures to original, I usually mail the items during mornings or before 5pm then save/quit . I load again after 5pm then see if they change their furnitures. If not, I'll go to home menu then load the game again until they change. It's kinda tedious though.

You just have to be super patient with it. Turning villagers houses back to original is a lot of hard work and you have to be ready to keep sending them the same item over and over in order to get them to keep it all. There's always a chance they'll replace something original with another original item and you have to start over with another item.
