So... a few days ago, a nice TBTer let me convince Joey to move in. On that same day, I got Pierce to move in from another TBTer. The next day, I expected Joey's plot but instead got Pierce's. Two or three days later, Paula's plot, which I did not expect, arrived(I cried X(...). That next day Jay appears in my campsite, I convinced him to move in since he was in my WW town. Today, Jay is unpacking and still no plot of Joey. Did I do something wrong?

Yes, you convinced two villagers to move in at the same time. Plus, you convinced Pierce after Joey, so you're now getting Pierce instead of Joey. You should only convince one villager at a time.

Hmm, maybe you can get him again? It depends on how many villagers are in your town, though, and if Joey is still in the TBTer's town. Anyway, I'm sorry that you didn't get him

Joey would have been my 10th villager. Oh well, gonna have to wait for someone on the giveaway thread.
Pretty much, you always have this 1 villager that is going to move in next. When you persuade a villager to move in, you replace that random villager (Congrats, you now have Joey moving in instead of ____). When you persuade another village, you replace your current villager (Oh no, you replaced Joey with Pierce).
