There are many events/holidays that happen throughout the year and I'm curious if the items during those events will be the same. It would be nice for them to be different since it would encourage players to participate in them and seeing how some holidays are controlled by Nintendo, it might be a possibility?

For example, the Fish Tourney event that passed, I managed to get 300 points and have gotten everything, but for the next Fishing Tourney, if the items will be the same, I'm likely not got to take part in it as there is no point/goal in it.

Maybe each holiday we will get different Items, but events they will be the same (since the event is built into the game)? What do you guys think?

My opinion is that they had better make them different in they're going to hide events behind updates! But then again, it'd be difficult to get some items again in that case so I don't know if I'd want that either.

No one really knows yet about the annual events.

I have a question for TTers. Is the Summer Fishing Tournament accessible yet, and do they have the same prizes?

I was thinking this yesterday during the fishing tourney. I got all the items that were available. I would also feel less obliged to join in if the same items were up for grabs.

every tourney and bug catching comp is in game yes, its possible to time travel and find them but the rewards are the same for each season. Since content is locked behind updates and datamines only show what they want us to find its still possible future updates will change the drop tables.

While the prizes being the same for the fish/bug tournaments would be lame I would still probably take part in them as they are actually a really good way to make money. I only played enough for the Bronze Trophy but pretty much paid off the rest of one of my expensive ramps with the money I made selling fish to CJ.

To be fair, I agree with you. I would actually participate for the bells. It helped pay off my loan for Nook!

Here's what I'm thinking. Anything coded into the game that can accessed via time traveling (i.e. the Fishing Tourneys and I believe the Cherry Blossom festival is hard coded in as well) will probably have the same items. Meanwhile, why remove Bunny Day from game after it's over and bring it back in next year if the items are all the same?

More then likely any holidays that currently have no accessibility in the game will have different items each year. And based off the original February info dump it looks like the major real world holidays (is Festivale based off anything real world by the way?) like Easter, Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving and the like are all going to be added/removed each year via patches.

We'll have to wait and see what April 4, 2021 holds for Bunny Day since Zipper will be removed from the game until then once April 13, 2020 rolls around.

If this is the case then I hope they don't make Bunny Day last for 2 weeks and make eggs pop out everywhere because that would be grating.

I think this would make the most sense! Like why have events be in updates, only to bring it back with the same content every year. They might as well hard code it into the game.

I wonder how long Nintendo plans to do this these updates...Probably until the end of the game's lifespan. That's a lot of commitment haha

I finished everything within four to six days of the event starting. Trust me, if this is how events via updates are gonna work each time, people are eventually going to stop participating and just download the patches since the most up-to-date version is needed for online play. They'd be better off polling to see how many people got tired of a constant barrage of water eggs since April 1.

That is a lot. But we'll have to see how long they can come up with new events each year. Especially since Pocket Camp will have a much longer life span then New Horizons will and they may have to start "borrowing" events from Pocket Camp if they can't keep both games having new, fresh stuff each season. Honestly, I wouldn't mind the Ghoulish Gala set from Pocket Camp to decorate my house with during a Halloween season though, so copying stuff from PC into NH wouldn't be too bad in my opinion. I DO like some of the sets and wish they'd be in a main series game.

I think it's also another thing to point out that Nintendo probably didn't intend people to spend a lot of time in the game than usual to the pandemic. I do see what they were probably trying to do (make events available for everyone including people who are always busy) but I don't think they were ready for situations like this. I do agree that they probably should have made the eggs appear less early on to prevent frustration though.

It's funny, even though the Version 1.1.4 patch was supposed to reduce egg frequency, I could swear I just kept getting nothing but water eggs from size 3 shadows. And CJ was in my town recently so I was trying to increase my profits. But maybe I'd been so used to fishing them up that I just imagined the frequency not dropping.

So yeah, I don't think anyone would have an issue with frequency drops for event items going forward post-Bunny Day to begin with.

Even if the event offers the same items each time it rolls in, you would still have to participate in it once during each season for the Nook Miles achievement.

One good thing about the repeated items is that some of them have multiple customization variants, which are perfect for certain house or town themes (ie. fishing shop, fishermen town, fish art exhibit, etc).

The hard-coded events are bound to stay the same but I have a feeling (hope) the other ones will change but maybe they'll bring them back to also give players who have joined later a chance to complete their sets (like they could re-release some of those items in the shops for more bells) - just an idea.

I'm hoping that each time it rolls around they might push maybe a small patch to add a few extra items. with stuff like fishing tourneys and bug offs it would be nice if the rewards were season specific, so it wouldn't be the same items every time (at least for the first year). if all the major holiday events are like bunny day, i sincerely hope that they add different rewards/recipes in the future because it'll just be even more complaining this time next year from the community if there's nothing new to collect AND collection of materials and such is interrupted once more. Overall i think for long term playability that it would be dumb to not add new rewards and it would also be kinda dumb to prevent newer players from getting previous rewards.

i like that idea, would be a great way to give newer players a chance at older rewards without cluttering the reward pool. maybe a "seasonal" section in nook shopping or in the nook miles shop?

On this topic, if the event items have the potential to be different every year, do you guys think that that it would be worth saving the items from this year? I was going to sell all the bunny day stuff, but now I’m not so sure.

Do we know if Bunny Day will retire or not? I always thought seasonal updates meant them slowly adding in seasonal events. So for example Bunny day wouldn't get removed from the game after it ends, but would repeat next year. I guess we will find out tomorrow/next patch if someone time travels back to Bunny day and it still happens.

It would feel weird if they took out seasonal events after they've happened. That would mean in say, 7 years when we are no longer getting updates there would never be another bunny day. The base game would feel kind of barren.

Also a sort of unpopular opinion, but I wouldn't mind the prizes repeating. I wouldn't want to be forever locked out of an item if I missed an event. I already didn't get all the fishing prizes because I assumed there would always be another time for me to get them... I had no problem with rewards repeating in NL, I still took part in the events whenever they popped up.

That would be terrible for people who haven't played since day one. And it would most likely ruin the replayability of the game after Nintendo stops supporting it. If they do that then I hope they don't complain if ppl start hacking the game like crazy 🙄 Locking up major content behind temporary events would just make it like a mobile game

nobody really knows, but I think this will mostly hinge on if the earth day update completely removes the bunny day event from the game (though not the items, diys, or mats, of course)

if it does, then future events stand a decent chance to offer a different prize pool. if the event as a whole stays though to be accessible at any point through time travel, then it's likely that they'll just recycle items each year

and as far as the fishing tourney and bug-off goes, those are all the same no matter the season (I actually got both the autumn and spring stamps yesterday through participating by myself until I got the 130 points needed to obtain one of all the non-trophy prizes and then later going to @duckykate's town to help with her tourney), but they could certainly add more prizes to the pool when either event is close to happening again based on the real-life clock if they wanted to
