Wifi rules...

Rules are stupid in my opinion, everybody here is mature and grown up to know what is right and wrong.
Visitors can do whatever they like in my town from going to shops, take fruits, take to villagers, or whatever. But I do hope that I don't take more than they should. I once had a villager who asked to have some fruits and I kindly said yes and went my way, and 2 mins later I saw that all of the top section of trees has been robbed. I told her to take only what she needs, but she left and then came back to steal some more, and that's when I turned off my wifi. That was the only time that I had a case of someone stealing something from me, but it was only fruits, but they can also grow back so its ok.

People visits other town because they want to shop, talk to new villagers or see different rooms items, but if people are being strict on rules then its no fun.

I haven't had any visitors yet (I'm still trying to set up my paths and make it look pretty) so haven't really thought about rules but here's a few I've just come up with:
1. Stay at the train station till I come pick you up
2. Don't run on my grass
3. Don't walk through my flowers
4. Don't steal my flowers, if you want some ask first
5. Ask me before going to Main Street (if your coming to trade or to buy something then you obviously don't have to ask)

There not really strict rules just the basics but everyone should have common curtesy anyway.

That's not true. There are people on here that don't follow rules. My rules are pretty simple.

i think some general rules are necessary. like, no running except on paths. that's very reasonable. also no stealing hybrids because they're so hard to make.

i usually let my visitors roam around and take any fruit they want. also any bugs, fishes, fossils they find is theirs. and shops are open to anyone who visits because i usually look through them first.

but any time i have a visitor they're so scared to do anything wrong i feel so bad. they always ask me "can i talk to tangy?" or "can i take 1 peach?" and i'm just like "go wild"

My rules:
1) Don't steal Bunnie.

That?s not even possible..

"Don't talk to my villagers" one is pretty big one after what happened to me. I have two unwanted transfer villagers from a friend's town, including her favorite dream villager Bob. I just talked to him once, not on a moving day, and he decided to leave soon after that. She was devastated that he was moving and begged him not to leave for days. But he still left and ended up in my town. I doubt that talking to a villager will immediately make him want to move, but it seems like the two villagers were impossible to talk out of moving when they're going to a wifi town. I actually tried to do the reset trick because I really do not want Bob, but he tried to moved to my town every time after 10 or so resets. Considering how many people on this forum hunt for dream villagers, I thought it was a really unfortunate incident. So yeah, now I never talk to villagers in other people's towns.

"No shopping on Main Street" is understandable too, especially when this game in new and no one has completed their catalog yet unless they TT. So generally I think it's really rude to go into Main Street without asking if the host has scoured the shops yet.

Finally, I have the "Stay at Train Station until I pick you up" rule, because on multiple occasions, visitors have run and chopped my perfect peach trees or stolen my hybrids. This was so early in my town, that I literally had to wait for another Perfect Peach to come around. I'm not overly suspicious, but I have learned my lesson to not immediately trust visitors near my perishable plants after I've been screwed over again and again.

That?s coincidence, it?s not possible to affect villagers to move.

Talking to the villager would have no affect on this. When a villager moves it is very common for it to move to a town that the player has visited. YOu can have never even been to their town and their villagers can still move to your place.

I personally think I have too many rules but... I put the rules I want to be followed, nothing more nothing less. If people don't want to come to my town because of my rules... then I probably didn't really want them in my town anyway honestly. ^^;

well from what i've seen happening in wi-fi sessions since ww, i don't really think any rule is "silly" or "absurd"

there's nothing wrong in wanting to protect your own town
if you don't like rules or feel bothered by them, just don't go to towns who have them. bam. done.

Some rules I do understand, such as no running and no cutting down trees.

I have the "no shopping" rule only if I haven't been the stores yet that day. Other than that, if someone only comes to my town to just go shopping I really don't care. Shopping is one of the best features of the game. :D

If a villager accidentally moved to a friend's town, it would be the person's fault for not telling the villager they want to keep to stay. No one can "steal" your villagers.

Most rules I've seen are completely reasonable. A lot of people consider some things common sense when others don't. I've had more than one person run everywhere, trample flowers, run away from the train station before or after a trade without asking, shake all of my trees, take literally every piece of fruit, etc and I feel like I have no grounds to reprimand them or give them negative feedback because I didn't have rules posted.

It's like babysitting. If people don't trust strangers in their town maybe they shouldn't do online trades.
It is common sense not to run around, but telling them to stay strictly in front of the pavement won't really do anything if their initial plan was to run around anyways.
I don't know where everybody finds people doing this stuff, with every trade I've done, people were well-behaved and didn't go anywhere without asking.

I don't think most people's initial plans are to run around when they come for a trade. I think some people just don't realize that a lot of hosts don't like that. In any case, for me rules are there so I can feel justified in reprimanding them, kicking them out and/or leaving them bad feedback. I feel like without rules you can't get mad at someone for doing those things.

I have seen ones that say don't read my town history...makes you wonder what they are hiding.
I don't understand the no going in houses either...you can't take anything and if the house is a mess so what?

A person with too many crazy rules I would not bother going over anyway...I always ask first, unless it is someone I am comfortable with and they already trust me enough to let me loose. But, someone that is THAT uptight that you cannot move an inch in their town should just leave their gates closed IMO.

I don't mind people doing anything in my town because even IF they destroy anything it can be redone anyway...time consuming, frustrating and rude on their part, yes...but not something that is detrimental and cannot be fixed either.

absolutely...I think many do NOT realize this and are convinced you can steal their villagers!

I can understand all of them.

I have some people on my friends list who come to my town without asking seconds after I open my gate while I am trying to trade with someone.

A lot of the time I haven't gotten a chance to see what is in the shops yet when I am trading with someone.

The no chopping down trees one is kind of obvious, but with some people, if you don't draw clear lines, then bad things can happen.

I just started my town but when I fill it with island flowers, hybrids, paths and all of that, I have the basics:

1. Don't run through my flowers or steal them. I don't know why I spent that time with the paths.
2. Don't chop down my trees, specially my perfect apple one.
3. You need to tell me before going to Main Street for trading. Shopping, "I think this guy has interesting things in Able Sisters", "I want to use ya Shampoodle" and "May I take one of your designs?" don't need permission.

I mean some rules are understandable. Like I have a rule for trading, that I like to keep the trade on the cobble stone near the gate. Because I like to make them quickly, unless I'm just trading a random item from a visitor.

These are my rules:
~Please walk on the paths. You may run on them, and walk off the paths if you need to.~
~If you see fruit, please feel free to pick them if you want! They are there to share!~
~If you ever visit the beautiful town of Folsense, feel free to leave feedback on the bulletin board. We would love to hear from you, and it makes me feel good about my town.~
~Please, do NOT run off paths!~
~Buy anything you want in the shops!~

how do you guys like my town rules?

I don't want to offend you, but your rules are pretty pointless. ._.
