Wifi rules...

I spoke to someones villager and they got a little annoyed at me, they didn't tell me not to so I assumed it was fine. I had no intention on stealing them, I couldn't have even if I wanted to. People need to come to terms with the fact that not everyone is out to magically steal your villagers. -.- It kinda annoys me. If someone has that rule I don't usually bother adding them.

The people who say "don't talk to my villagers" are probably those from the old games where villagers actually could move away with barely an indication after being talked to a lot. *shrug* still seems Paranoid to me as you can simply tell the villager to not move.

But I usually ask whoever is visiting to ask before they buy something in case I haven't been able to shop myself. Or if they do buy it, to at least let me catalogue if it was something I wanted.

My rules are pretty simple
• Don't trample or steal flowers
• Don't run (not even about grass deterioration thing, I just personally don't see a reason to run since you're not timed in my town lol)
• Don't shake my fruit trees or trees <~ I've had close friends do this and end up taking an item that fell if I forgot to shake it or whatever bells fell out. It's more of an annoyance than anything though that they would do that. There are 2 more rules but I can't remember them. I posted them in my town bulletin board anyways

I just hate when people don't let me into their houses. I love seeing how different people decorate and design their houses, and I like getting inspiration. Those people are boring :(

It's someone's decision to create strict rules for their town. Some people can be suspicious (me being one of them, but not too suspicious) and they will create very strict rules. I don't mind what people do in my town, though - when I allow visitors, I think the rules will be "walk anywhere, run on paths," "no chopping trees or stealing flowers," and that's probably it. I don't mind visitors shopping in my town - what's the point of allowing them into Main Street if they can't shop?
But I get your point. Some people create really strict rules because they are really suspicious of everyone. But if you don't want them to do that, the best you can do is accept their decision and don't visit their town! :)

oh man if someone said that to me i think i'd have a sneaky look... it makes me wonder what they've got to hide - it's not like you can steal from their house!

My town rules:

Bugs, fish, fruit, balloons, and shells are fair game. Help yourself.

Please don't chop down trees, and please don't trample or steal my flowers.

Pretty easy going, I think!

Ugh. My favorite has to be "don't talk to any villagers"
Seriously? Geez. People are not going to visit a town with rules like that >__>

I understand the don't visit without asking, but I don't have that rule in effect at all times, only when I open a mass trading thread. XD Sometimes traders have low internet and can only handle having one person in the town at once, otherwise, BAM, error, and you have to try again. And that can be a pain with a large order. ^^

But still, it's not like you can control it. XD I usually just ask them to leave the trade alone and wander about as they please.

As for the shops, I just ask them to ask my permission to buy before they do so, works a lot better than saying, "NO NOOKS FOR YOU!"

I find rules amusing. I don't feel any reason to set any. I just expect people to have common sense/courtesy. If they don't then I'd just flick the wi-fi switch - but I've never had to do that.

I don't know, I won't judge others for having strict rules. It's their own preference and I'll abide by anyone's rules. Though I only visit towns of my close friends or for trades/market type things. If I'm paying for a commission I only stay by the train station as a courtesy. If someone were buying something from me I would escort them to re-tail. c:

My rules are pretty simple,
Don't run (kindly use my paths, they'll take you everywhere I promise), don't cause destruction, don't take flowers.
I also have a fossils stash on my top right beach that I wouldn't want anyone taking without permission. :c I really need to get around to putting those into an alt character's locker.

ikr! only rule i have - even though i don't tell people - is to not run. my grass is looking soooo bad already and I don't even run!

"Don't talk to my villagers" one is pretty big one after what happened to me. I have two unwanted transfer villagers from a friend's town, including her favorite dream villager Bob. I just talked to him once, not on a moving day, and he decided to leave soon after that. She was devastated that he was moving and begged him not to leave for days. But he still left and ended up in my town. I doubt that talking to a villager will immediately make him want to move, but it seems like the two villagers were impossible to talk out of moving when they're going to a wifi town. I actually tried to do the reset trick because I really do not want Bob, but he tried to moved to my town every time after 10 or so resets. Considering how many people on this forum hunt for dream villagers, I thought it was a really unfortunate incident. So yeah, now I never talk to villagers in other people's towns.

"No shopping on Main Street" is understandable too, especially when this game in new and no one has completed their catalog yet unless they TT. So generally I think it's really rude to go into Main Street without asking if the host has scoured the shops yet.

Finally, I have the "Stay at Train Station until I pick you up" rule, because on multiple occasions, visitors have run and chopped my perfect peach trees or stolen my hybrids. This was so early in my town, that I literally had to wait for another Perfect Peach to come around. I'm not overly suspicious, but I have learned my lesson to not immediately trust visitors near my perishable plants after I've been screwed over again and again.
