Why do some people void a villager if no one bids on them or trades for another villager or object? Wouldn't it be better to see if anyone wants them for free before you void them? I just don't get it. :/

I see people do it all the time. They'd have a prefix that says auction or selling, and if they don't get what they want they just post "voided" and I'm sitting here all </3 I mean, if I was in that situation I'd look up a search and see who has been looking for or wanting them and see if they'd take them.

exactly what i was going to say.
it's kind of sad, people can be so greedy.

For cyclers, i think it's fine to void if noone wants them. Whereas yes for auctions or trades, it's sad to see a wanted villager voided because they didn't have enough money or didn't have the item to trade with.

Cycling is different since most of us do it 100% free. Also, the way some of us do it is that we try to find people who have been looking for that particular villager and ask if they still need them.. well, that's what I try to do. I haven't voided a villager in a while.

i think it's weird that people make others pay for the villager in the first place. anytime someone leaves, i give them away for free. period. if i need bells i can go beetle hunting on the island.

speaking of which flo is leaving on the 30th of this month....

i like to search around to see if anyone is looking for the villager before i send them off!

I don't get it either :/ I saw one board where a person was cycling but trading/selling villagers... and someone else asked if they could have a villager for free if no one bid, and the seller said no and voided them like 5 mins later

like ??? If no one's bidding why not just give them for free to someone who wants them instead of voiding them??

If no one paid me for Tom, I was just going to give him away. I'd much rather have my villagers go to a good home than be voided.

I can't stand when I see people doing this. It's so spiteful. I've even seen people flat out say "if no-one meets my price I'll be voiding X" which is like you're holding them hostage and stressing out people who love that villager.

I totally get the need to void, not saying there's anything wrong with that. I've had to void a few villagers that no-one wanted. But if anyone wanted them I would try really hard to get them adopted out.

I generally don't sell villagers, just give em away before voiding. That said, if I run across a popular villager, I might see if I can make money off it before giving it away.

I don't see why it would be so harmful NOT to give it away unless the seller is worried a bunch of people will try to wait for it to be free, in which case, if I could not force one of them to pay not a single bell, I might void them. But still, not every villager is worth something.

Also, you could do something sneaky and if the last villager a person has voided is one you want, could try trading with them for another matter to see if that villager will latch onto your town. A mostly unreliable method but it's something, hehe.

Anytime I have a villager moving out, I always ask if anyone wants him/her, I never want to void them. And I never sell villagers either, and if I need money that badly, I either clone bell bags with a friend, or hunt for rare bugs on the island. I don't see the need to sell villagers or void them. Although If there is a villager I want and someone is offering to sell them, If I want him/her badly enough, I'll buy him/her from him/her. I know that sounds bad, but I guess that's the nature of some people I guess.

There are alot of greedy people out there, most of the time they want 15mil + for villagers. I don't even have half of that in my bank account!!!
I could never be greedy and sell a villager, I would rather be nice and if anyone wanted any of my villagers that were moving I would give them away for free but some of my villagers have ended up voided cause no one wanted them.
