WHY won't these villagers move out?!?!

I literally have never talked to them ONCE, not even by introducing myself.

The rule is that they're SUPPOSED to move out no matter what if you never speak to them at all, as long as you are at 9 villagers.

1 month later and they're still there. Even some of my other villagers are asking to move out before them. Why?

I'm infuriated because while doing the villager reset trick to get Marshal, I accidentally logged into my mayor and a plot was put down for Olaf. Then one of my other villagers I was hoping to move pinged me, so I let him move, only to get someone else I don't like. I thought "Hey, no problem. I'll just ignore them completely and they'll move like before."

...

NOPE. -_-

I notice that the closer you are with a villager, they are more bound to move out.

I had the same problem as you with Phil, I didn't talk to him since the day he moved in because I wanted him to move out so badly. And he never asked to move out.

It was only when I started talking to him, developing a friendship with him that he asked to move out. Correct me if I'm wrong, but as long as you haven't introduced yourself, the villager won't ever move out?

Nope, that's incorrect. If you never introduce yourself, they are "supposed" to move out after a week without pinging you. If you only introduce and never talk again, they'll instead ping you to move. I've successfully done it with Muffy and a few other villagers before. I never talked to them and they seemed to be gone within a week or so of TTing.

I just don't know why these villagers won't move...maybe it just doesn't work every time, or maybe my TTing back and forth screwed it up, idk.

Actually, I'm not so sure now. Some people on gamefaqs are saying it's a myth...

I wish you could evict neighbors. >:[

I'm having the same issue with Mathilda and Chow. I thought it was because I have two other alts, but I've only introduced myself to everyone on those alts. It's not like I talk to anyone or anything. I've been desperately trying to get rid of those two, and yet EVERYONE ELSE has asked to move out before them? It's baffling to me.

I may have accidentally talked to Mathilda twice and put her on the friendship ladder without realizing it, but Chow has no excuse. I really have no idea what's going on and those two are NOT moving. (But, they are also from my friend's town, and I talked to Mathilda a lot there... That might be an issue.)

A sidenote: from what I understand, if you don't introduce yourself the day they move in with boxes, they won't move out for a LONG time. But, I did this with both of mine and they're STILL here, so I have no idea what this anomaly is besides the potential that my alts are screwing it up.

Actually, that IS correct. The game is programmed on the assumption that you befriend all villagers and want to experience as many new villagers as possible so the higher your friendship, the higher the chance of someone wanting out.

If you choose the ignoring path, then I'm pretty sure that you're supposed to introduce yourself to the villager first and only THEN ignore them. In my experience though, being extra nice to the ones you want out is definitely the way to go.
