Why is this happening?

I'm trying to plant some bushes, but there are two spaces where the bushes I plant just keep dying for some reason. Here is a grid to show the area around those spaces.

Green means there's a bush there, grey means there's a path there (design on ground), purple means there's a flower there, brown means there's a tree/stump there, and the red ones are the spaces in question.

I can't see if there's something near the bushes that would stop them from growing. Could this just be a glitch?

You cant enclose bushes

there are just 'dead spaces' in the town. You can only put flowers or paths there.

You can't have more than 12 bushes connected.

You can't have any enclosed areas. Also you can't have a chain of bushes & trees that are longer than 12.
Sorry, but you won't be able to do what you want here.

You can't plant more than 12 bushes in a line. The 13th and after will always die

Thanks guys! I changed around my paths and stuff and it seems like a 4x4 ring of bushes works fine! I also fixed an unrelated bush issue by taking off corners. So I guess an enclosed area will work so long as no more than 12 bushes are used. (that only leaves 4x4, 4x3, 3x3 and 5x3, but oh well!)

Dead spaces are a myth. You're violating some rule if they're dying.

Also you can have 15 I think bushes per 7x7 area.
