Why is everyone so mainstream?

I just kinda think of it as you like what you like, but I do think it gets a little too repetitive. But in my next town I'm just having villagers I think are cool/ones that mean a lot to me. Like I plan on having Flip, Shari, Boone, Goldie, Zucker, Marina, Stitches, Merengue, and Julian for sure (They were all in my original town which I stupidly restarted and have been wanting it back ever since so that's why there are so many T1 villagers.) But I don't even think I'll have paths... Like the whole thing will be basically whatever I feel like making it if that makessense.

They're popular/mainstream for a reason. They wouldn't be popular/mainstream if so many people didn't like them/want them. People just pick whatever they like, you know? When I was choosing my dreamies I didn't think: "Hmm... how can I add some variety to this game?" I thought: "Im going to pick what I like!"

I pick my villagers that I would want to stay in my town forever, and so my dreamies happens to be the ones I hold dearest to my heart. Honestly it's my game.
I didn't pick them because they are popular/tier 1. I chose them because they are adorable, happened to be one of my favourite animals in life, resemble things I love, etc. I'm not saying you do but I dislike it when others judge towns based on what villagers they have... popular or non-popular.
You either love my villagers or you don't.

I like cute villagers, Julian falls under that catagory and he was and always has been my favorite, as my octopi...I just like them because they are technically rare due to only being 3 in the game

If I had a dollar for every time a thread like this is posted...

Well they are popular for a reason. Villager content is limited in the game so what else are you going to consider when choosing a dreamie? Appearance. The villagers with a cute appearance just happen to have the largest appeal within the fanbase.

Good looking villagers are good looking! I honestly feel that it's more of a personal preference than anything, really. I have T1 villagers in my town but have also fallen in love with Kidd and Rooney. What ever looks good, looks good!

idk i had a lot of tier 1 villagers from the start by luck, they make good $$$ haha
a LOOOTTTT of my fave villagers are tier 5. idk the really popular ones are all "cutesy" or fit a certain "style" so

I agree to a degree and mainly like t four and fives esp if started before TBT and just took who got but I have been offering a t five Jay the jock bluebird for days and days now and no one will take him for free so that's why they are hard to find on trading plaza..I keep giving a chance no one is wanting them here.

wow we caught ourselves a new leaf hipster over here guys

okok i'm going to explain popularity to you because you're a hipster and you're an extra special snowflake:
People think they look appealing more than others > popularity rises > because so many people have them, they're always almost the only villagers in the vtp > some people like different things than others, even if it is 'mainstream'

Also how do you even enjoy the game when you have to make sure everything is completely hipster? 'oh no peaches, too popular these days'

Perhaps most people don't consider tier 5 villagers when planning out their dreamies and just go for tier 1 or 2 villagers.

I have two very popular villagers in my town: Marshal and Marina. Both showed up at the campsite, and I liked them and asked them to move in. I didn't even know they were popular. I wasn't even a member here at the time. However, I have an unpopular, "ugly" villager in my town whom I love just as much: Tabby.

Personally, I don't understand buying and selling villagers. The only way I'll end up with one of my dreamies (or anyone, for that matter) is if they randomly move in when I have space, or I invite them from the campsite. It's all about having fun and enjoying the game. I'm not going to stress over who moves in, where they plop down their house, or anything else.

I don't do dreamies at all, i prefer the randomness and getting to know a variety of villagers, i think it's also nice to have those villagers you don't like in your town too, it makes your nice villagers seem even more nicer!
It's more fun for me to not know which villager is coming next, and when a nice villager comes along you hold onto them for dear life! lol
But really, villagers are supposed to constantly move in and out, that's why i don't think there's any point having one set, because it's like a cycle, and if you don't stay obsessed with your game you'll lose one, so might aswell just let it go through it's due course

<3 this! lol, what an excellent reply pumpkins :)

I don't really care. That's the last focus I have in the game. If someone likes popular characters...then cool. They're popular for a reason.

All my villagers, whether popular or not, are sentimental value or just being drawn to their design/color scheme. Some of it may have to do with love for the animal classification as well (ex: octopi <3333). But yep. :3

Personally for me it's just a game, if i like the villager then i like the villager. The Tier doesn't influence for me how much i like them. Every villager in my town i have was picked for my own reasons regardless of their spot on the Tier List. Yes it's mainstream to see the same 5 villagers pop up in everyone's towns but they are popular for a reason. Personally my favorite two villagers are in Tier 5/last spot in Tier 4 but when i saw the list did that change how much i liked them? No not at all.

It's just hard for people to hunt down their Tier 5 dreamies because they are so overlooked by all the Marshal's, Diana's and Julian's

TBH, I think most tier 5 villagers look ugly.

I don't even care about tiers, I just get a villager I like.

I have had Tier 1 in my town, loved them, hated them, sold them, same goes for all the tiers. I happen to LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, Scoot. He isn't loved by the masses, yet fits well in my town. Not everyone goes for tier 1. :)
