Why is everyone so mainstream?

I ,like, looked through a lot of threads in the last months but in every thread the signatures were like: Dreamies|Villagers: Julian, Merengue, Marshal, Marina, Beau, Fang, Ankha or Stitches.. Like seriously everyone seems to have the same villagers! In random dreamtowns I always see either Marshal or Julian or both as the smug representers... I just don't get why nobody has other villagers! I personally have no tier 1 villager and don't quite see the appeal of the villagers listed above(My opinion ) I know everyone has their own opinion and such. I've seen seriously 9 out of 10 people have at least one or two of tier one villagers. Where's the variability?
Edit: I don't want to say that being ''mainstream'' or anything is bad, I'm just saying that nobody seems to love the unpopular villagers and that I'm seeing like everyone having the same animals. That's a bit sad for me. I don't mean to offend anyone who has tier one villagers. And I did not say that everyone should please me or anything. I just want to hear your opinion on the lack of other villagers. I don't mean to hurt anybody.

That's cool I had Ankha once too but just sold her because I don't like Ankha

I'm not mainstream at all, only because I have always been too cheap to actually buy those villagers. I got Ankha from a friend who wanted me to hold her then ended up abandoning her all together, and I only got Marshal to give to a friend. Other that that, I like the lower tier villagers. Don't get me wrong, there's absolutely nothing wrong with being mainstream, they're popular! Other people like them, it doesn't mean you have to. People like what they like.

They're mainstream because alot of people like their designs. That's kinda why they're so popular. I understand what you mean though since its kind of annoying to see so many dream towns with the same exact villagers, but it can't be helped. Those villagers are super adorable so it's just natural people will be attached to them. Plus, the more you see them the more you want them, that's mob mentality for you. Even though many other villagers exist and are just as cute, it's sometimes more satisfying to have what everyone else has.

I decided to play the game my way and just pick who I like. I have merengue & lolly cuz I like seeing them in my town every day. and I want Diana. I'm not playing to please you. I agree that Marshal is overrated tho but I'm not gonna pass up someone with a design that I like personally just bc it makes me lamestream lol

That's true, but I am just a bit perplex as why doesn't anyone seem to like more unpopular villagers? On the Villager Trading Place there are always almost just tier one...it just seems a bit... boring.

That's the point, Tier 1 is most popular. If they didn't show up so often, there'd be no point. True, some of the villagers are overrated, but people like them.

If there weren't many people who liked those villagers...then it wouldn't be mainstream to have them xD
So asking why everyone is mainstream is silly because the answer is sort of implied in the word's definition. It's just because it's popular

Those villagers are popular for various reasons (mainly people think they're cute) and that's why so many people have them. And by extension, that's why so many people are "mainstream," if you want to look at it that way

What it comes down to in the end is the fact that people tend to favor different things. It's their opinion, that's just how it is, and there's really nothing else to it. Some say it's their design, others because "Hey, why not?". Nobody "started" any sort of "trend".

I agree with you on that. I hate that a lot of less popular villagers are autovoided. it's honestly a lot easier to get your Tier 1 dreamie than it is to get your less popular one. the market is saturated with them. You can find someone trading Marshal any day but good luck finding Claudia or or Biff.

I had Annalise, Chester, Timbra & Claudia and I thought they were super cute. I want to get Savannah if Merengue moves out. different strokes I guess.

I love most of the tier five villagers.
Though, I do also love Rudy.
He's becoming more popular, but I'm not
going to stop liking him, because of that.
I do get the annoyance of everyone having the same villagers, though,
but to each their own. If that's what they like, then so be it. Fine by me.

I see, I seem to have expressed myself a bit bad. Sorry for that. I only meant that nobody caring for low tier villagers is sad..

I have/love Marshal but for me it had nothing to do with his status. My friend had him in her town and I talked to him a bunch of times and I really grew to adore him. So for me, that's what made me want him in my town. I also have Fauna, again not for her status but because I think she's a beautiful looking villager and she fit in really well with how I'm making my town look. Plus she's so sweet (being called Dearie makes my day) that I love her. I don't really care about a villagers status, I have villagers I love (Antonio, Willow, Phil, Doc) and they're all low-tier but I adore then and plan to keep them.
