Why do you have a alt character?

I see a lot of people on here with another character added to their town and I've also been thinking about doing the same thing and i'm curious on why others decided to add another character to their town. ( i know one reason being able to have more space for items, but not sure the other reasons)

I don't have an alternative for the primary reason of that I don't have enough space for another human to move in. Because of that, I had to make my path design to be on the simple side.

I have extra characters for additional storage, but also to hold patterns for paths. The system is incredibly flawed, in the sense that the space is so limited and you can't even rotate patterns to be more space efficient. Another reason is that I wanted houses themed around things I was a fan of :)

I have all four alts! Honestly, for me it's about the decorating. Animal crossing for me has always been about the aesthetic in my town, so I like coming up with little personalities and houses for the other people who live in my town. Plus after a certain point it's like I run our of things to do and making more Alts means more things for me to do!

I have three alt characters. I created them mainly for additional path storage and then items second.

In my old town I had a second character to finish my paths. This time I want natural paths so I don't think I will have anyone except my mayor.

Well in zebilage it's for collecting purpose
In purely which is 1 it's for like a theme house I'm doing
And in rainbow it's for path honestly :p

I have 2 alts. I really don't like having extras but I made them to hold paths/patterns. I won't be making their homes too big.. gotta admit though, it's nice coming up with themes for everyone's homes. I'm leaving the 4th spot open for plot resetting. :)

Honestly the only reason I ever make any is to have more QR design slots for my town. So far I've come up with solid reasons for them to be there (aka making them the town's mascot or something), but I'd never make them if I didn't need to.

Enjoy having an alt. :)
Would also be for Pattern/Storage reasons. :p
Also, I occasionally lend my 3DS...

More space to store QR paths, but mostly because I love making up stories for characters in my towns and then decorating their house according to their personality. Basically more creativity. :3

I have an extra villager to make my town look a tiny bit more populated, I wish my mayor was the only human but I needed to fill in some space. I am really hoping the next Animal Crossing game will have a higher villager capacity.

i just created a new character in my town for water paths, im pretty happy with them so i don't regret anything

All three of my completed town have the 3 alts (so 4 characters total). The main reason is that they are all themed towns, so each character represents another person from that town's theme. And the main reason I do the themes is that designing interiors is my favorite thing to do in my towns! That's why it baffles me when some people visit dream towns and don't even look in the houses. To each their own, I guess. :)

I only have two alts and I created them with the intention of getting more pattern slots. Then after that I decided I'd actually give them some character and decorate their houses according to themes.
