Why do villagers do this?

Why do villagers displace the clothes/items we give them to wear??? It’s so annoying! Not all of them do this but I just don’t understand.. why does this happen? Is there any way to fix it?

I've come across this too! I don't think there's a way to fix this, but the more you give them the more stuff can be cycled out so eventually they'll be given too much stuff, and let go of their oldest items.

That’s just AC. I hoped they’d delete displaying clothes/bugs/fish in this game, but nope.

There was formerly a red candy machine, a blue pinball machine, a dartboard, a blue gas range and a cacao tree in this house.
You have my sympathy.

That was pretty annoying sometimes, but my villagers did wear the clothes I gave them when they were displayed in their house.

ugh it’s such a bummer when they do this! i wish you could at the very least suggest they wear it if they do place it. click a and “oh! i love that jacket you gave me. should i try it on?”

on that note i wish we could suggest they move an item if they place it in a weird spot. i’m always accidentally giving villagers a flower and they have never put it anywhere but the floor lol. y’all. pls. they cannot decorate.
