Why do so many people hate uchi villagers?

Everyone here is hating on Sisterly, thinking they are very few of them, almost all with questionably designs, plus being rude when that's absolutely for me the definition of the Smug category so I'm very confused lol.
My sisterly villager is nice with me, yeah she's very honest and straightforward, but she told me lot of cute stories about her past and always giving me good life advices (she's protective), when on the other hand my Smug villager always bragging about himself and being mean or oppressive with other villagers.

Yeah, aesthetics are a big deal to me and I didn’t think any of them really fit with my other villagers. I decided Pashmina would look the least out of place, and she is so much cuter than I thought and I really love her personality! I’m a total Pashmina convert now.

I like them in theory, their personalities are very relatable as I've always been a bit of a "boyish" girl myself (forgive the phrasing please)

I just don't think their designs are very evocative of their personality, a lot of them seem to have weird makeup and stuff. I like Katt, she's pretty much what I see uchi as being. I wish they just had more appealing designs in general, a lot of them kinda look like they should be snooty to me.

I dislike most of their designs, with the exceptions being Cherry, Muffy, and Reneigh. I do love their dialogue though! They’re probably my second-favorite personality type based on dialogue, but my least favorite based on design.

i was really hoping for an additional 5-10 uchi villagers with NH. i do think there are a few cuties for folks who don't go for the unconventional villagers (deirdre anyone), but it gets booooooring. i have deirdre right now and will eventually swap her for agnes when i need a change. but then what's next? i have genuinely considered hazel bc i love a lil unibrow girl.

they were also so mean in NL and i don't think people can move past that. i loved it, but i get why people aren't into it. the NH personality reads more like a normal villager to me (and normal villagers are ...bland.)

there are only 24? of them. ;~; i really like katt and agnes. it'd be nice to have more of them. kinda disappointing that they only added one into nh ..

Oof when people be calling my girl Ursala rude and ugly... I cri. I cri and then glance at my pfp and realize my whole taste in villagers is a meme

Anyway to add my personal take to my general one, I kinda have a soft spot for uchi a little bit because they're the type that most closely represents my personality. Like someone else who posted, I've always been a "tomboy" growing up and know how it be when people call you rude just for the way you talk, even (in my experience) as I was trying my best to understand and be polite and get along and everything, but the way you grow up has a huge effect on your ability to relate to people. Not that it doesn't hurt a little bit when Urs says to me "Is this island not big enough for the two of us" or "Didn't I just see you over there, do you have a twin" but I know she doesn't mean it like that <3

Aside from a select few (Diva, Paula, and Rocket), I think the uchi villagers are great and I would gladly accept any of them in my town. I think uchi is the best female personality because these villagers feel more like real people; I dislike that the other personalities are either makeup+fashion girls or stereotypical wallflowers. I also appreciate that the uchi villagers aren't intentionally cutesy. A few of them have piercings which is cool too. My favorites are Phoebe, Reneigh, Cherry, Shari, Ursala, Hazel...

Honestly I like this personality because they remind me of my sister. She's direct and honest and will tell you exactly what she's thinking, regardless of how she'll come across. I don't think uchis are that rude, but I also like to interpret their lines more as sarcastic instead of intentionally impolite. I'd say a lot worse if I moved to a tropical island paradise and some random kid wouldn't stop barging into my house unannounced and spam talking to me every 3 seconds.

I absolutely adore them! I actually love most of their designs too. They are quirky little weirdos that need more love!

My top girl is Deirdre and Katt. There are only a couple who I wouldn’t want... frita..

If we finally get to have more villagers with an update I would 100% add another Uchi baby.

Katt I think, gave me hell for opening a present for someone else (I think I deserved that scolding). But wow she did really make me feel like utter scum

My experiences with sisterlies are kind of a mixed bag; while Cherry is a total sweetheart, I always felt like Hazel didn't like it when I interacted with her. I also had Agnes who I think has an amazing design, but while on my island, she barely interacted with me or my villagers and only left her house for secluded walks on the beach.
Designwise, some are standing out in a good way, such as Cherry who is just beautiful and whom I adore and Muffy, who is a cute little gothic sheep. Agnes, Hazel, Fuchsia, Flo and Pashmina are all designs I like a lot. I don't like all of the sisterly designs, but there is no personality of which I do.

I've never seen anybody hate on the sisterly villagers. I'm not really fond of most of their designs. I wasn't sure how to feel about Pashmina at first, but now she's one of my favorites. I had Ursula in the GameCube version, but she was a snooty in that version. I can't remember the others I've had. I had Fuchsia and Shari in New Leaf. I also had Mira, which is by far my most favorite one.

For me they wake up so damn late and most have bland designs also. And their dialogue ain't exactly varying (that goes for most but still)

I like the personality, but not really the look. 😅

A lot of them are made to seem "tough" or trying too hard to be cool - bad makeup, especially. I guess it may fit with the personality that they are more cool and outspoken than cute or pleasing, but for me at least, it's hard to look past their quirky design. Like Deirdre and Fuschia... I love the deer, but Deirdre's lips bother me and Fuschia is a little too out there. I don't know, I feel bad not giving them more of a chance (I had Muffy and really grew to like her) but at the end of the day I guess I'm just shallow. 😅

I love uchis! I have Fuschia and Pashmina, and if having the same personality didn’t get so repetitive, I’d get a few more too❤

i like the uchi personality itself but many of the designs dont fit with the theme i want to create. i'll probably end up going with phoebe or shari but even then their designs r just rly meh. i hope if they bring back all the old villagers they move some to the uchi personality. idk why the smugs have such a good design in comparison to uchis but oh well.

edit: looking at all of them they do give off the feeling of cool, big older sister. kinda alternative looking? but i feel like that's such a narrow design when u compare them to villagers of other personalities. normal villagers r imo the most versatile in terms of appearance, like there will always been one that fits the theme u want to create but with uchi that just isnt as easy. (ex: i would like to go after pashmina because she's rly close to being a more "natural" looking villager but her bright blue horns just throw that idea out imo)

personally, i've never found myself really vibing with any of them since nl days. had a couple back then but quickly found out they're not my favs so i ended up avoiding them in nh. also not a fan of the designs either. guess the only drawback to not liking them in nh is never learning the uchi specific emotes lol. oh well i can still live.

I kind of like some uchi villagers. Don’t get me wrong, some of them aren’t my favorite, but some of them are super nice to have around. Some of those assigns might not resonate with some people because they are not aesthetically pleasing to them, but I think overall uchi villagers are pretty nice and are a nice change from other personalities.

I thought I really wanted Reneigh, but after seeing her "in person", I changed my mind.
I think it was that here eyes were on her cheeks, but then I got Pashmina and she sings every day, so works for me …. for now.
I'll never say that I won't ever swap her out.
