Why do so many people hate uchi villagers?

The Uchi villagers can come off as weird and rude sometimes. I personally only like Reneigh, Pashmina, and Fuchsia. However, I feel that the Uchi personality is more fleshed out than other ones.

To my understanding. Almost all of the Sisterly (uchi) villagers are considered.... unattractive.

I mean here they all are? What do you think?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder not the holdee or the holdee promoter. I find a lot of villagers rather unappealing. I have a list of all my favorite villagers. They come in lots of shapes, sizes and styles. Not all are cats or rabbits or wolves. Not all are "Cute or Pretty". They all have something about them that allure me into to wanting to know them. To add them one day to my island. You might be surprised to find in that list. I have 7 out of 24 Uchi villagers that I find interesting. One of them is in my village now and has been with me since day 1. Pashmina!

Now while I have 7 in my list of favorites. That's 17 Uchi girls I just do not like at all. Though it is not based on there personality. Just that visually they do not fit my styles.

One other thing that I have heard players who do not like Uchi girls. Is that they are mean to them. Which I find absolutely amazing and wonder what they are doing for them to be mean or rude to them. Sisterly/Uchi girls are designed to be closer to the player. To be supportive and nicer to you. At least that is what I read and Pashmina has been like a big sis to me. Kind, fun and supportive. She is a spunky rocker girl who means business and looks out for me.

So ya, that's my bit of insight on them. I think everyone should give a Sisterly Villager a try. Still, add who you want. Do not be afraid or ashamed to like who you do. Weather it's Sisterly/Uchi or Raymond. Never let anyone tell you who you can or can't have in your village. Oh and don't fall that silly "Must have one of every personality type and no duplicate species". You want all cats. Go for it. You want to collect Snooty girls. More power to you. ;P I mean just look at my signature. I don't adhere to any rules. ;P

I think there are too few uchi villagers and most of them don't really have unique designs (I only like around 3 or 4 out of all uchi villagers). On top of that, some people consider them to be rude to the player, so there's that.

It's really just the designs, other than that they're really nice! I'm not too fond of the way they speak but, they're ok!
I wish we had a bit more variety when it comes to designs!

They personally do not bother me, if anything, I recall getting some of the better DIYs from them (iron garden bench, birdcage, etc). I guess not everyone would be fond of the upfront and blunt dialogue they usually offer, but I personally like them. I definitely do think they require a bit of time to digest, since initially they do sometimes come off as being too much. That's at least the way I felt. :)

I'd have to agree with the case that it's their designs. I only really like Deirdre, so shes the uchi on my island. I love the personality, but I'm unsure why there are so few of them to choose from and why the majority of them are ugly. I like to think I'm not THAT picky on appearances, but I'm just not a fan of all but 2 or 3 of them, maybe.

if i had to guess, it's because a lot of their designs are kind of garish? for me, it's hard to immediately pick out any uchi villager and say, "hey, i like her design!" many of them just aren't appealing ;;

It's a combination of things. For me, there are too few options and most of them range from visually unappealing to just okay. None of them really stand out as "must have." And I like to have no more than one of each species, but it feels like there are better options for each one in a different personality :(

The uchi villagers can also feel really mean to me. My starter was Pasmina, and I didn't like her at all.. It felt like she was always shouting at me, and if I talked to her more than once then she was super aggressive about it. I think since most of the uchi designs aren't appealing to me, maybe I'm just reading them wrong? Uchi feels way more rude than cranky, smug, or snooty villagers. But Phoebe and Plucky don't really give me that impression, so idk. I think my interpretation of the dialogue depends on the villager

Well I don't hate Uchis. In fact, I love their personality. The only personalities I dislike are jock (downgraded from NL) because they ALWAYS talk about muscles and normal/sweet, which I find way WAY too boring.

Honestly the only thing wrong with them is the visual appearance of the villagers, in terms of dialogue peppies and jocks probably get the most hate, but if you look at their villagers they look more visually appealing than the uchis/sisterlies/big sisters
Now I'll be honest I only really like Reneigh, Agnes, Cherry, and Fuchsia, sisterly villagers have major punk girl rock music vibes and they fit the theme, but they all have flaws, which is okay because nothing is perfect and everyone has different views ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If you don't want to read basically the villagers are "uglier"

I wasn't aware that people disliked the uchi villagers! I would guess it's probably because there's not many to choose from and most of them have pretty bad designs imo.

If Mira was not inspired by Sailor Venus I wouldn't have one uchi as a dreamy. They're just very forgettable and kinda rude? I feel uchi's now are kinda like the worst of snooty and cranky from the old games.

I've always been a fan of uchi/sisterly villagers. I feel like I saw more people talking about how much they disliked them in new leaf than new horizons.
Although, I remember people talking about when they first started their island that they didn't like their uchi villager because they were rude.
I never really experienced this with Fuchsia.

I second this. None of their appearances are WOW I WANT THIS VILLAGER. Buuut that being said I’ve grown to love Reneigh. <3
Honestly I am with you there. I think she is the most adorable villager ever and I'm never gonna let her leave.

I love their personality. I had a dialogue between my uchi and cranky and it was hilarious.

But yeah, their designs aren't amazing to the point where people would be crazy over them.

most of their designs just aren't my favorite, and they can seem kind of rude in their dialogue and in my exp, clash with my other villagers more often.

i do love deirdre though hehe (her default catchphrase being "whatevs" kinda sucks though)

I love uchis a lot! I know a lot of people think they’re ugly, but I don’t really get that? I particularly love the subset that looks like a cool older friend who takes you to random underground concerts, but most of the designs look like they know what they like and are owning it. I also love that in this game instead of just being lady jocks, they’re these rough and tumble country girls. Tammy’s photo was the first one I got because I was always pestering her, lol.

However, they did come with New Leaf, which was a massive era of pastel towns, and uchis have never really fit that puzzle. It hasn’t really been until New Horizons that I’ve seen a positive shift toward them and I would not at all be surprised if the shift in general town aesthetics has been a part of that.

Because most of them don't have good or interesting designs or at least it is hard to like more than a few of them.

Cherry is my Uchi and I could only ever see myself getting maybe Phoebe and Reneigh, the rest are a hard "no". The only personality I dislike are Jocks, but even then I can pick out at least 5 designs that are interesting.

out of all of the sisterly villagers, the only ones i really like the designs of are deirdre, charlise, canberra, and pashmina. the rest are not my cup of tea.

their dialogue can also be a bit dull. reneigh bores me to tears sometimes.

For me, it's definitely because of their designs. I have Phoebe rn and LOVE her personality, even though I'm not 100% sold on her design. That being said, she was my favourite uchi villager and I wanted one on the island!
I think they should maybe add more of that personality into the game, then maybe they would get the love they deserve!

Shoutout to Phoebe for always giving me medicine when I get stung by a wasp :')
