why do people not like it when visitors talk to their villagers

what's the big deal? i was wondering why so many people do not allow this in their towns, i don't get why because it's not like their going to move to your town unless they are in boxes.

Because people don't want to hear their villagers talking about other people that visit

Because they usually bring you up in conversations for a long time afterward, even if you only spoke to them once, and I guess that partially annoys people. I don't personally care if anyone talks to mine though, so I'm not sure if there are other reasons.

Villagers will mention other people when they talk to their mayor. Some people might have a lot of trades and don't want to hear about one person they had to trade with 3 months ago.

i was thinking that was the reason, i am partially bothered by that but my villagers only mention one person who is my friend.

As others said, they talk about people, but... I don't know why that bothers anyone??? Mine still talk about the very first person I had over and I enjoy it.

People are too uptight. :I Anyone can talk to my villagers as long as no one's in boxes.

I actually let anyone talk to all my villagers.. BUT MARSHAL LOL. I accidentally let this one guy talk to him, and he was just coming to get siggys, and Marshal mentions every 2 weeks, so much it bothers me, so i might aswell let everyone talk to him ^^ <3

It's like what everyone else said, people don't want their villagers talking about random people. I don't know if there's another reason. It doesn't really bother me, although I guess I could see how it'd get annoying if it happens a lot. I honestly find it more annoying that Genji constantly talks about my second character. I like it when my villagers talk about visitors, even if I have no idea who the heck they are.

I find it really neat when they talk about their past towns/visitors/etc. >: you get to see through rumors who is a bellionaire so you can form coalitions with them and steal funds HEHAHEAHE okay no but it's cute ok

idk, I'm the same. I don't mind people talking to my villagers. And it doesn't bother me when they mention someone. Actually, it's kind of nice to have a little different dialogue once in a while.

Plus, I don't like to run my town like a dictator

One time Fauna mentioned someone I never even met! I think maybe it was someone that visited my dream town?? idk, it was funny though.

My Tangy told me that she had a dream of talking to what I assume was a Dream Suite visitor because the person she mentioned has never actually visited my town.I didn't know they would bring up talking to dream visitors.
