Why do people have a problem with Japanese characters?

I named my kitten Saori am I a horrible person?

I am fascinated with Japanese and Korean culture, but I still love and accept my own culture.

i hope im not a weeaboo, i dont curse my non-japanese heritage but i love anime and manga, and i also just love japan in general.. but i don't think im annoying about it either, someone told me that weeaboos talk constantly about loving anime ect, which i dont so who knows.

a weeaboo is a term that is used a lot, from my experience people don't hate people who use japanese charactes/names but those who type often in japanese words like kawaii desu, people find that anooying or at least on deviant art back when I was still an active member

Personally I only mind the people who use the words "Kawaii", "Sugoi" and "Senpai" excessively. Everything else is fine.

Because people are so so sad that they have nothing better to do than to label everything as a weeb and find ""insults""

Although it is in Urban Dictionary I think it gets to the point. I would highlight the looking like an idiot part. The Internet is waaaaaaay to obsessed with Japan, when you use Japanese words and names it just gets annoying. I always think why not use names from a different language, it's slightly more unique and since it's not over used no body will get annoyed.

IDC tbh, it just irks me when people use super common words like 'Sakura', 'Hana' and that stuff. mind you I'm learning Japanese because a lot of my cousins are jap.

Many Japanese people are offended by these things. Maybe try to learn (the basics of) the langage if you like it so much? There are tons of free courses on the internet. You probably won't be able to learn the whole language that way, but at least you can catch some basics and not sound like a complete idiot. At least learn how to spell "kawaii" and not write it "kawai" or something.

Yeah, I get what all of you are saying here. People might say that these types of things are "cultural appropriation" (which I find to be kind of ridiculous, why shouldn't we try to become multicultural and learn about others cultures and try to make our lives better by changing things we do that we took inspiration from other cultures?????)
But I think that this whole "weeaboo" situation is a minority. I for one sure find some aspects of Japanese culture interesting, I do wear J fashion and I don't mind watching some anime and Jpop. I admit that I do not know THAT much about Japan but I am open to learning more about different types of cultures. From my experience, most people are quite reasonable. I can also see how some people both inside and outside of the anime fandom would find this to be weird and annoying for someone to be so obsessed with this culture and the whole thing about being a native is kinda crazy.
I am also not fond of the random japanese words being thrown about if they are spelt with incorrect romaji or something. It would be like a german student (which I am) spelling things with no umlaut and not using the e substitute method. But I also think that it is also about context and moderation. I don't really want to control what people say but I do sometimes find it annoying.....
It would be like me commenting on a random video done in english "Suss" and expecting someone to understand what I am talking about, even if it isn't even correct....
So yeah, major rant over....
