I bought the 3DS during black friday last year purely for the Smash game. Saw New Leaf was on sale so I just picked it up for giggles. Now I play it even more then I do Smash. LOL
Ah, it's a long story for me. I found WW at my elementary school and, since nobody claimed it, I took it home and played it. I loved it! For years I enjoyed the many towns I had on it; it became a way of life, sort of..so when NL came out, I had to get it!
Last March or so Nintendo had some deal where if you registered a 3DS and a certain game (the list included ACNL) you could get a free digital download of Pokemon X or Y. I already had a 3DS, hadn't registered it yet because I was waiting for the right moment, hadn't bought ACNL yet because I was waiting for the right moment. Also already had Pokemon X but I'm not gonna pass up a free $40 game.
When I got my 3DS XL for the first time, I only had Harvest Moon to play. After a while I was getting bored of playing harvest moon all the time, and it was near Christmas so my boyfriend just took my DS, went to Nintendo e-shop and got the animal crossing digital version and told me it was an early Christmas present for me c:
To be honest I didn't really get into it at first (I didn't know about forums/other new leaf websites online). After a few months of barely touching it, I found bell tree forums and learned that there's a lot more to the game. And got addicted to it xD
I bought it to recreate the memories I had playing WW. I was really excited for it when I heard it was announced and bought the N3DS for it. Its a lot less relaxed and original than WW was to me,but it was still worth it.
My partner ended up giving me the game after he bought it on a whim "Everyone on street pass plays this so it must be good, right?" Needless to say it wasn't really his thing, so now it is mine. >:3
We had a new 3DS, and we were looking at games for it. I'd played and enjoyed WW, so when I saw how ~gorgeous~ AC:NL was I figured I'd give it a shot. I requested it as my birthday present from my other half shortly after release (I never really pre order, like to see gameplay vids and user reviews). Sadly it arrived the day after my bday, so I had an awful long time to wait for my first in game birthday.. !
Very worth it, best value for money I've had from a game in a long time. So I bought a second copy last year. xD
Well, I have been a huge fan of the series for about 8 years, so of course I had to buy the next game in the series! Ever since I picked up my first Animal Crossing game, it's been my favorite game series to date ^_^
