Why can't I use spotpass for this game on my New 3DS XL?

Every time I try, It says that extra data cannot be created. I don't understand. I'm trying to do it on my New 3DS XL, but it won't let me. Is it because I used spotpass on my old 3DS on this game and the New 3DS XL can't use spotpass on this game because I already did it on my old 3DS? Help please.

Try disabling spotpass on the old 3DS.

That shouldn't be the issue, you can switch games & spot pass functionality between DSes freely. Did you use the default SD card? You might not have enough room on the SD card to create the data :<

Other than that, I'm not sure what could be causing the issue.

Spotpass wont work if you use the cartridge version.

all the save data is stored on the game cartridge.. not on sd card! it should work normally.. spotpass won't work as it's a different system and spotpass uses a different sd card!

Also, dont know if this helps but...
"The save data for the two different versions would be created separately, so you would be able to create a different town for each game on the same system. However, once StreetPass data or SpotPass data is used in one of the versions on your system, it won?t be possible to reuse it in any other version."

It seems that unless you do a full system transfer, Spotpass wont work on your version anymore.

As for Digital, if you delete the game and re install it should be fine.

Strange. OP might not be able to if they have a second/digital copy of the game already. If it works on yours then there shouldn't be a reason why it wont work on theirs I would assume. Spotpass barely creates any data so unless your SD card is filled to the brim, there should be space.

Edit: May have found a solution. Make sure your SD card is in correctly, snug and secure where it needs to be. Someone said that their issue was that the SD card wasnt in right, re-insert it and it may work. Be sure to do this when the device is off, I dont know if it's safe to pull out the SD while its on.

I have 5 cartridge games as well as a digital copy on my main ds. I can switch between my public and private DS with (almost) no problems. The only problem I have is that only one copy of the game can be connected to spot pass at the same time (usually whichever I played on most recently). I was thinking if there were any digital games or anything it might be eating a great deal of data-- but that's probably not it either :<

For the first year of ACNL all copies of ACNL got the spotpass tag and free gifts. I spent an hour at McDonalds getting free Pumpkin Pies for friends. All my players in all my towns got the gift.

With the white tree this year only one copy per system got the gift. All the players in those towns received the tree and the coupons.
The other copies on each system got nothing.

If you already got the spotpass item on your cartridge you wouldn't get it again when you move it to another 3DS.
