So I've seen offers turned down, people complain, and people so serious about receiving "Original" Villagers. I've never dealt with this, but seeing it still leaves me confused. Why is it such a huge deal? The villager is still them. The villager is still cute, great to have, etc. So why does it matter so much?
I think you can want original if you want, but i'd just like to know. :O

This is something I'm curious about as well. I offered up a tier 1 villager free because she was unoriginal and I didn't get any offers :/

Personally I don't really mind about their items because I can always gift them furniture I want them to have. And you can always edit their catchphrases to their original ones if you want. If my dreamie was offered unoriginal, I'd still take him/her.

Unoriginals need love too!

it's just preference but the real answer is noone knows what goes on in the head of the dreamie obsessed nutters here

The only thing that bothers me is if most of the stuff in their house is missing or replaced with other things.
I don't really care to gift them stuff, so I like it if their house is mostly original.
I could care less about their catchphrase and t-shirt though since they'll eventually change anyway.

They want all the furniture and their shirt I guess. But yeah blatantly I did and don't give a crap about it. If I want a villager I want it because I like their personality/looks

Sometimes I actually choose a villager based on their home. If their home has been altered (especially with fish and bugs), it's not very appealing anymore. I don't mind a villager not being 100%, but when you get down around the 70 mark, that matters to me.

ppl want the untouched original virgins not the second hand sloppy seconds

i don't get it but cool

I think for some people, it's because they want a perfect show-town for their dream address. I wouldn't want to keep a villager original since it requires turning down every request, but I think a lot of people want their towns to look 'perfect' to make people jealous. Well, I'm sure not everyone wants to make people jealous but they want their towns to be admired.

Would you want a villager with 30 cicadas, one of the default Able Sisters' shirts, and an offensive catchphrase? I mean, you could always slowly fix them, but even then, that takes forever...
In my opinion, though, I don't mind if a villager is unoriginal.

I don't mind if their catchphrase and outfit is something reasonable, those can always be changed anyway. I only mind if you've filled their house with fish and bugs ><
I'd say to sellers to try to keep furniture as original as you can, if nothing else :lemon:

This I agree with. The only requests I refuse from my villagers are when they want ugly bugs/fish. Once a villager asked for a koi fish and it looked so cute in his house. But that's an exception. If the villager gets rid of a piece of furniture, I send them back either the same piece or another from the same set to keep the house looking nice.

I think it's mainly the furniture @A@; lucky wound up with a lovely lamp in his house recently from my boyfriend playing in my town and thinking it was ok to give him it. Lol.
I don't care about shirts or catchphrases though

I agree totally! Unoriginal characters are equally as great as original ones :)
My only guess is that people think its tedious when a villagers house has different furniture, or they're wearing different clothes. But hey, you can easily fix that!

I think the whole "original" thing is ridiculous. When I first joined here, nobody cared about that stuff. A villager was a villager. Slowly over time, people having their precious Marshal or Beau wasn't good enough anymore. This fandom, especially on this forum, is something else.

i usually don't care; if i do, it's just if i like their original shirt. like Mira's shirt makes up her whole superhero thing. and Merengue's chef shirt goes with her dessert thing. ofc you can always just gift them their original shirt or another shirt you like but i've gifted Chrissy three shirts now and she just displays them in her damn house. overall tho i mean if i rly want a villager i'm not gonna give a ****.

It's like buying something used vs. something like new. I prefer my villagers to be "like new", and I'm willing to pay more for such. I'm not gonna pay all that much for a potty-mouthed villager with a house full of bugs...that would be like buying a used car that had been smoked in and wrecked....ewwww. ;)

I dont really mind, I wont decline free villagers because of their originality but the more original the better, I hate having fish/bugs in their houses XD

well it's like when you go to a restaurant and order a meal that looked really nice on the menu, but not as nice on your plate. it still tastes good but you'll still be a wee bit disappointed (especially if it was a dessert), no?

I had a villager with a huge dinosaur torso in his house..not the head or anything else just the torso. It took me many months for me to get rid of it. I don't mind if the villager isn't original but I really don't want a whole bunch of toilets in their house either
