I can top that. I give villagers 100% for free. I don't believe in selling villagers and would rather they go to someone who wants them as part of their town. Been doing this since New Leaf. Felt the practice of charging for villagers was quite dumb. Can't wait for the current pops to get their amiibos.
I've always given away villagers for free no judgement on people who ask for bells or NMT but it sort of takes away from the spirit of the game to me anyway.
I don't know the popularity level of each villager. Like I know the new ones are sought after and like marshall, bob, octavian, tia, molly and stitches are up there but that's it. I only ever sold one villager,Purrl and I have no idea how liked she is. I took the first offer I got, 10 nmt.
I've never sold a villager before. Never have on New Leaf and probably wont ever on New Horizons either. If my villagers are moving away I will always try to find a good home for them for free. Just feels weird selling them off like that
I've only ever given away villagers. I want to give them away to a home that appreciates them. I don't know what'll happen if I get a really popular villager that a lot of people want. I would hate to give them away to someone who just wanted to sell them for a ridiculous amount of whatever currency they were asking for, but I really like the idea of giving someone the chance of getting a villager they've been dreaming about.
I have not sold any villagers, but I don't think I intend to unless I really need some NMTs. I've met some very kind people in this community who have given me some of the more popular villagers for free (specifically Beau and Audie, the former of which was literally the only villager I'd ever consider trading for). I have no intention of letting either of them move away because they're amazing, but if I was ever put in a position where I had someone popular like Marshal leaving my town, I'd rather pay it forward and give them away to someone who'd be genuinely happy with them like I am with Beau.
I traded raymond for a couple seasonal diy recipes lol. Not sure if that's cheap but I thought it was nicer than auctioning the poor guy off for hundreds of tickets.
