Who's sold a Villager for a low amount of money?

Yup this is the unfortunate consequence of being generous, some people will take anything they can get, even if it means taking it away from someone who actually wants it.
I think what further drives this feeling of disgust is because the community is so popular for the kindness and generosity it has. Seeing some of my friends that are new to the franchise and treating it like a business rubs me in such a bad way, but I don't really feel comfortable saying anything other than "haha nice" whenever they message me talking about how they managed to get X villager for 10 NMT and are about to flip them.

Not to say I have a problem with people making profits on games in general and I'm well aware this happens for literally anything with a market. It just feels incredibly out of place for a game like this.

Yeah, if I'm selling a villager or something I make my buyouts VERY LOW so I don't cheat the game

I don’t sell villagers at all, the idea of accepting money for them feels...idk, unethical? Like I’m participating in some kind of trafficking treating them like property lol.

I had Sherb and always intended to eventually get rid of him, and I stressed for weeks about how to do it fairly. I wanted it to go to someone who genuinely wanted him and would not resell him for a profit, but yeah, especially off this site, there are so many dishonest and greedy people out there. Luckily my dad saw him in my game and asked for him, so Sherb is now with my dad and I saved myself the stress of a public giveaway.

Lazy villagers even state "you don't sell your friends" we don't deserve our villagers <3

ughhh I’m not one for confrontation either but I don’t know if I could swallow pretending to be happy for someone like that. most of the people who sell the villagers that cheap are either unaware of their value (meaning you are taking advantage of someone else’s ignorance) or being generous and trying to help people get their dreamies (meaning you’re being deceptive by buying it to sell AND potentially robbing someone else who would have genuinely appreciated it). I agree that it is definitely not in the spirit of this game.

omg Sherb never said that to me, if he did I would have cried with guilt and kept him lmao. I have two lazy types already though, so he really had to go. And I can visit him on my dad’s island whenever.

I haven't sold any villagers in new horizons yet, but I did give Zucker away.

I gave Marina to someone for a perfect fruit back in ACNL once.
After that I have always sent away villagers to other's town for free.

Pretty much I have all my old villagers given away (or voided if no one had interested) and I've been also lucky to find some popular villagers like Diana and Sherb rather cheap ❤ (ps: not sniping, got them to keep)

I sold merengue for 500k but I did it on purpose, the person was new and seemed to really wannt her, and I just wanted her out. I have a decent amount of bells rn so I don't always stress about pricing.

Alternatively, I sold lucky for like 2 mil + 10 nmt + Raymond because that person really liked him, so I guess what goes around comes around!

I have a system in my island called "transit villagers" I give them away for free regardless who they are. I did sell a lot of Ankha early stages of the game. Now I'm not doing it since I'm well-off now

I did sell some for a small amount of NMT's before - (Zell for 10 NMT and Apple for 2 NMT and the Saharah strawberry chocolate flooring).
I did a giveaway for Octavian and the person was kind enough to tip me some NMT's too.
I bought some NMT's with my TBT before because I don't really use it. I was planning to use the NMT's to go Island hopping but haven't been able to since pretty much the start of the game because nobody that I'm ready to let go wants to leave... lol
For someone who doesn't TT, such as myself, it seems almost pointless to have 100's of NMT's lying around just because I hardly ever get the opportunity to go villager hunting.

I don't consider the market when I giveaway/sell a villager. Not looking to profit, just want to give someone else the chance to have them. Even the most undesirable of villagers has a biggest fan.

Octavian for 10 NMT. No one wanted him. I felt so bad for the octopus xD I gave away Judy and Marshall free of charge (Judy giveaway came with some chaos LOL). I may give away Raymond for free but I haven’t decided.

I did a huuuge amount of villager trades just a week before nmt completely died and wasted a week of my life trading them for nmt and IM stILL NOT OVER thAt ahem

but it was surprising how many times I almost had to void Pietros, Julians and Ankhas (and others) because no one wanted them even if I went really low in price. ended up giving them away as I didn't have the heart to let such popular villagers die in the void and I definitely wasn't gonna wait for the Nookazon discord 30 minute cooldown every dangest time I got drowned out by people looking for Raymond

there aren't many things more thrilling than giving a villager for free to somebody who truly adores them, it's just so inexplicably cute and even though you know you're never gonna run into them again it still makes you feel the happies. if you haven't tried it yet and are thinking of doing it, you totally should. It's so sweet. make sure you give them to someone who actually wants them tho otherwise they just gonna resell them for a profit

Yeah I sold Stitches and Julian both for around 5-10 NMT and some bells and gave Merry away for free (didn't know she gained popularity). I don't really want a lot for villagers because I don't want to earn too much too fast.

I've given away Audie, Tangy and Rosie for free if it's just popular villagers. If it's everyone I also gave away Kitt for free too.

so far i havent gotten any popular villagers besides the ones im keeping but ive gotten them all for free from giveaways (judy and sherb) or from friends (julian, dom, audie). but ive given away a bunch of villagers for free like moe, phil and im gonna be giving pekoe to a friend 2mrw

i recently got a bunch of amiibo cards from amazon so i plan on leaving a free spot open so that i can cycle in villagers for people
