Who's a Villager You Thought You'd Hate/Hated, But Who Grew on You?

Someone else had a board kind of like this, but I didn't want to take it over talking about other villagers So, just for fun, share a villager you didn't initially like but grew to!

For me, it was Coach. I was looking for a Jock after Sheldon left and got him when I was low on NMT. At first I was like "eww, stupid bull" but then I WAS kinda desperate, so I looked him up online. I saw he was the only bull who's not cranky or lazy and I thought... that's kind of neat. So, I caved and invited him. And he's just really grown on me since! The more I look at him, the cuter he is (love the stubble) and I kind of made a little backstory in my mind where he's a retired coach who just can't stop acting like a coach, 'cause that's what he is deep down ☺ He was also my first birthday in game, I believe, and I used Harv's island for the first time to make this-

(I fortunately already had the "Mom's Handmade Cake" item 'cause she sent it to my main character... absolutely randomly. Still dunno why )

Anyway, share the villagers who grew on you! Who knows, maybe other people will grow to love them a little more, too

Definitely Snooty.

When my plot got filled by her, I was a little (a lot) annoyed. But as I got to know her, I really grew to love her! I had her for all of April & May, as well as a good portion of June. She wasn't a dreamie unfortunately, and she's super unpopular (as most anteaters are) but there will always be a soft spot for her in my heart & on my island ❤ I have her picture proudly displayed in my house, and although I prefer Friga, my current snooty, I definitely miss my girl Snooty.

Canberra and Diva! I'm kinda ready for Diva to go (she's my first villager) but she's really sweet. I can't believe i thought they were ugly when I first got them. I didn't realize Uchi villagers were my favorite until new horizons and I'm lucky I've gotten so many of them.

Thought when I got around to filling my island with my wante characters would ditch Paula, but i enjoy her and doubt will have her leave my island anytime soon

Tiffany. I actually despised her in CF because of her design and how she plagued my towns.
Looking at her design in NH though, I’ve absolutely come around on her aesthetic. She’s so posh and snobby, extreme Jessica Rabbit vibes and I honestly love her now because of that.

My forced campsite villager Admiral and my starter peppy Gabi. I've got Gabi's amiibo now so I kicked her out for the time being. As for Admiral, I was so convinced that I would kick him out that I completely ruined his house by gifting him random furniture that didnt match him (I need to to get the picture from each villager that's ever lived on my island regardless of whether I like them or not). I have to get rid of him now since his house is so ugly even though I really like him and will miss him :/ I'm planning to get Static since he's my favourite cranky from NL but if I don't end up bonding with him in NH I'm going to get Admiral again.

Also Muffy I guess. I always thought her design was cool but she moved in my NL town uninvited, replaced a villager I really loved who left without asking and ruined my flowers. I tried to get her to leave for hours but she never pinged and she's still there. She was also my starter uchi in NH so now I call her Muffy the stalker lol. I dislike her because of all that but I also kind of like her because her design is cool and had she never randomly moved in to my town in NL I would have probably kept her in NH.

I was planning on letting Lucha go since I already had another smug in town, but gosh dang it I love that wrestler bird and once I saw many people didn't like him or want him, I decided he would have a safe forever home on my island where he can feel welcome!

Mac! He was one of my starting villagers, and I wanted Bam as my jock so I wasn't completely thrilled to see him. But he grew on me and after a little over a month he asked to leave. I let him, but I felt kind of sad about it. If anyone ever has Mac I'd love to visit him sometime haha.

I know most people probably won’t understand this, but I wasn’t really a fan of Judy (aka Ms. Overrated Glitter Cub)... I didn’t understand the hype until I found her on a mystery island and decided to give her a chance. Well, she moved in, and I’ve pretty much fallen in love... Her eyes don’t bother me as much as they used to. I now look at her with a different perspective. I find her as someone who puts on a lot of make-up in order to “fit in,” even though she has talents in other areas. I also love Judy because she seems like someone who is so musically talented. When designing her yard, I kept this in mind, and I added a piano.

I've mentioned Klaus on here before but... Klaus. He has a really GLUM expression and when I first saw him I was like, "Nooo!" but now I love everything about him. ESPECIALLY his glum expression. He looks like he's seen some stuff, man.

For a while I was trying to amp myself up to move him off my island but I couldn't do it. My island just wouldn't be the same without him.

Mira. The moment I saw her superhero style, at first I was not impressed and I didn't think she would be as awesome as she is. Instead of her being an annoying cliche like I thought she would be, she ended up being like my own sidekick. She is now one of my most sought after villagers.

Pietro! He was my mandatory camper and I sighted when I saw him. But he's here until now and I don't plan on letting him go anytime soon, even tho I hate clowns in real life lol

Rudy! The minute I found out that he was a jock, I remembered Hamlet’s muscle talk from NL which I hated, and expected to hate him as well. I didn’t care for his design at first either. But, now, I’m happy to say I now consider him to be one of my favorites, though I still hate the muscle talk and even have grown to like his appearance. On the first day, when I talked to him, I did think his voice sounded extremely cute along with his expressions. If he wasn’t a cat, I don’t know if I would’ve felt the same though, tbh. I love cats so in spite of not really being thrilled about him right away, I was happy he was a cat at least.

Bertha, I regretted inviting her to my island accidentally, but she grew on me after a while.

tammy! i never disliked her, really, but i’d never been all that fond of her and wasn’t very interested in her. but having her as my starter uchi has changed that - i’ve honestly grown so attached to her and like her more than i used to. i likely won’t be permanently keeping her but being able to build a bond with her has been nice c’:

It was actually Coach for me too! He was my starting jock villager. I didn't like him when I first saw him, but he grew on me quickly.
Now I love Coach and I think he's adorable. I have his photo in my characters house, so I'll let him move out when he wants.
I will miss him though when he does decide to move out.

Rudy. I tried him out when I was struggling to find a jock and I had his amiibo so I thought he would do as a sort of place filler. He just fits on my island perfectly and he's my favourite villager now. So cute when he runs around!

Frita!
She was my starting uchi villager and i thought she was rude and ugly lol.. now i have her photo, and she's staying on my island for keeps. I got a late start on Bug Off day.. she was actually standing right outside my door .. and she said, "This event ends at 6, hippy! We gotta get the lead out!" omg i died. I love her

I didn't have this experience in New Horizons. Because I really dislike jock and smug villagers in general. Even when they all left, it didn't change my viewpoint about them.

For New Leaf, I grew up loving Skye. At first, I wasn't really into her. After a while, I grew in love with her design and house decors! Just like any other normal personality, she doesn't have any much dialogue to keep me engaged. To simply put, I like her purely for aesthetics. Anyway, after doing a bit of island hopping for Felicity, I was able to invite her back to New Horizons.
