Who or What Kapp'n really is...

So I often watch Monsterquest, a show where they track down urban legends. Well, last night I saw an episode about this, the "kappa".

And get this, its widely known and they sell stuffed animals of it and have even made cartoons. Yeah, let this all sink in...

I don't see what's so bad about it, honestly. From what I know, fairytale stuff is usually kiddified. I mean, in the original Cinderella, the stepsisters cut off their toe and heel so they'll fit in the shoe, and at the end get their eyes pecked out by crows. Sleeping Beauty is also more adult in a way I don't think I can post on here. Fairies were pretty evil, as well.

it looks like a demon on the wiki O.O anyay, when i first saw kapp'n, i thought he was based on a anime character since he reminded me of one. not sure what character he reminded me of though

kappa characters are pretty common in japanese media in general, though.
