For me, I would love the café as its own building because I loved the look in NL. Possibly some others too (like Retail for customisation and a flea market), though my island is actually kind of full now so I don't know if I could house more than 2/3 new buildings!
It's funny I say this because before NH came out, I was hoping for all shops to be on the island, but I realise that it's not realistic at all for me with how small my island feels now and how it may take away from the natural theme I went for. I'm happy Nook's and Able's as well as the Town Hall is on the island because those are really series staples that have always been in your town bar NL.
I actually loved the city in CF more than main street in NL. It was less convenient with the loading and cutscenes but the idea of the city was what made it exciting, it always felt like there was a big world behind the main shops you could access, but main street felt really barren and dry simply because of the cliffs that you could see and just plain grass in the horizon. I would love for HHD buildings to come back to a city-esque kind of island or something, but I don't know if people would like this if it means more dialogue with Orville lol. I wouldn't mind it though!
If they do it like city folk I'll blow a fuse, we need more actual content on our islands, buildings, and things that are actually interactable.
There's two options I would be happy with.
1. Just bring the shops back, and let me decide where they go.
2. Make a shopping center, let me decide where to put it, and the inside should be an extension of the island, let me decorate it, and decide where the shops go inside.
#2 obviously won't happen, but it would be pretty sweet.
The two I want back the most are def the cafe and the dream suite. All the other shops I can live without (I mean I miss Shampoodle but not sure if she needs a permanent shop... if she was like a weekly visitor I'd be ok with it), but those two I visited quite frequently in acnl!
I don't think we need more shops; we just need better shops. Roll Leif back into Nooks and give us Nookingtons, and make Kicks and Label a part of Able Sisters. Add the Cafe to the museum and get K.K. out of the plaza. That would free up NPC slots for Gulliver, Redd, CJ, and Flick to make weekly visits. Maybe add the Dream Suite as part of the airport somehow. The airport is underutilized other than for island hopping and online play.
hmm it all kinda depends on what building. i definitely want the roost on my island and have even picked a spot for it (assuming it’ll be standalone again) but i’m not too sure about other buildings. i think i’d also like the police station and dream suite on my building and i could maybe put retail in my mini shopping district, though i’m not too hopeful about that returning ;;
I'm trying to go for the deserted island/'live off the land' vibe for my island so I like the idea of 'pop-up' shops outside of resident services rather than more physical buildings. Feels more island-like. The only one I'd like to see would be Brewster's, but I imagine that will be another museum addition.
Having a stand inside the airport (think souvenirs similar to Redd's little cart in Animal Crossing for selling balloons during fireworks) would be neat too. I'm 100% with you on having a shopping district like in City Folk. I'd love to have another location to travel to via seaplane.
Re-Tail could be placed inside Nook's Cranny. Sadly, this would only serve as a flea market since you can already customize some furniture, and they probably wouldn't give you more Bells than if you were to sell the item(s) to Timmy and Tommy.
Katrina and Luna could share a building. Katrina to do fortune telling, and Luna for the Dream Suite section of the location. They both come off as mysterious to me, so I feel like they'd be perfect working together.
Brewster's Café is an obvious choice. Just make a new building for him. K.K. Slider can be found playing music in-doors during rainy/snowy days/nights. Club LOL could also return, but give Brewster's Café a basement section where K.K. Slider will start DJing at 8 PM to however late he would do this in New Leaf.
Label's Store could be inside the Able Sister's tailor shop. Maybe have it upstairs.
I wouldn't mind having a kind of district that would allow for additional buildings - rather than creating extra players (I'm the sole player), I'd much prefer to decorate actual venues like restaurants, hotels, schools, etc. Kind of like a merge between HHD and ACNH if you will.
I'm also hoping for some DLC add-on to allow for more villager plots on the Island - either than or an option to trade the extra player spots for villagers.
I'd love some more buildings but why not make it a choice? An off-island shopping district with Kicks, Lief, Katrina, Brewster etc. but you can choose to re-locate any of the buildings to your island for a fee? Keep everyone happy.
I think I would prefer them on my island... only because since the beginning I planned a sort of shopping district and I like having things accessible. I wouldn't mind an extension to our island or another island altogether, though.
If they add another island I would like to move my museum off if possible... takes up a lot of space.
I feel like we will be getting a sort of spiritual successor to the city from City Folk. Honestly, I feel like this could be really cool! Especially if there is some degree of customization.
I do think there will be more shops directly on our island, probably a cafe and the dream suite at least.
I can't believe I forgot about Booker and Copper. It would be nice to see them return. I hated how in New Leaf you could only have one or the other, though.
Yes. We could use more buildings. I looked at the Special Visitors and the fact that they all compete for the schedule. Having one or two make the move to permanent shops would greatly improve things.
Give Kicks his shop back and move socks and shoes back to his store where he will also sell bags. Leif can sell flower seeds and shrub starters and fertilizer like in New Leaf.
Bring back Pelly, Phyllis, and Pete. I knew that the airport has post cards that we can send to friends and neighbors. Why not divide the mail. The airport could be for friends and the traditional post office could be reserved for just those on the island.
As alluded to, Brewster and the New Leaf version of the Roost needs to come back.
Lastly, we need the Dream Suite back. I miss that the most especially after seeing all the great towns shown online. Out of all services provided in New Horizons, Luna’s role has not been replaced. If it came back, I know where I am going to put it.
I know the island might become a little cramped, but it could use more shop buildings.
