Each game, a villager usually works their way into my heart accidentally.
This game, it was definitely Maddie and Walt. Maddie was one of the first villagers I found on a Nook Tour, and I grabbed her because I just spent such a long time looking for a good Peppy (Really was scouting for Rosie), and I found Maddie and thought "You know what, she'll do for now." I found myself just giving her a gift each day and talking to her the most out of anyone else on the island. And today, when I got my Rosie via Amiibo to say she'd move in, I figured I'd have to let Maddie go. I couldn't bring myself to kick her out. I would've been devastated if I went through with it, and ended up booting Kidd (who I also love, but Pietro is too good).
Similarly, Walt I found on a Nook Tour. I was looking for a bunch of villagers and Walt was not who I had in mind, but when I found him, I was sort of charmed by him. He is one of two male kangaroos, and I just thought that was so cool when I looked that up. I've given him a bunch of samurai stuff, don't regret it for a second. Always love talking to Walt.
Anyway, just wanted to know if other stuff like this happened to other people and, if so, who these villagers were.
Everyone who comes to my island falls in love with those two, and I'm very happy they live with me. One of my favorite side 'hobbies' in the game is finding cutesy outfits for both of them. Mags is always watering my flowers, and Freckles let me know CJ was hiding behind her house the other day.
Only happened to me once in Wild World, but it was Bob. I hated him at first. Tried to get him to move out by pushing him around, hitting him with my net, etc.
But he grew on me a lot, and he’s become a favourite of mine. He lives in my NH town now, I like to say he’s my childhood friend ;w;
Keaton! He was my forced campsite villager and I was gutted, I already had Pierce as a starter villager and I'm not fond of the Eagle species.
But he's so lovely! He sings his little heart out every day, has plenty of fun things to say and he always wears the clothes I give him. So I'm keeping him
In ACNL it was Alfonso, not the most attractive villager in the world but he's so goofy he became my first dreamie. He's the only villager I've traded for in ACNH.
For me it was Fauna, she moved in my New Leaf town and I didnt even know she existed beforehand haha. Now I love her and will protect her from anything.
I've always liked Roald, and someone mentioned that Hornsby looked like him in rhino form, so I guess I like them both now.
I don't know if this is weird/an unpopular opinion but I'll say it anyway: I don't really have an emotional attachment to any specific villagers because I'm too conscious that they're all the same dialogue. They don't feel distinct enough for me to get attached. I just like who I like based on design.
Filbert. He got me, now I'm living in his mind rent-free. After he left I went out of my way to get him back... his no-thoughts, head empty smile makes my heart so warm.
idk if I'd call them dreamies since I could easily move them in (or already have them), but some unexpected villagers that really left a good impression on me were Filbert, Prince, and Zell. I try to test the waters with at least a few "original" villagers that I didn't originally plan for / wouldn't think about bringing in just to make the experience feel a little more organic.
It was Erik for me! Came across him in a mystery island using my last tickets and thought he was pretty cute with his moose antlers, but probably wasn’t going to keep him. Fast forward a few days and I love hearing him talk about bugs, food, and sleep lol
I don't really have any Dreamies, per say. I do really like Drago, though. He's classified as an alligator...but he's obviously a dragon. I got him completely by accident when I found him on a random island. Wasn't looking for him. Honestly, I didn't even know he existed. Not only do I like the fact that he's a dragon...but he also wears the yellow and black Bruce Lee jumper...and his name reminds me of Japanese/Mexican lucha wrestling. So...he's basically an all around favorite for me. Whole bunch of stuff I like in one character. Also, I still want the lucha hamster (Clay)...but I'm not really gonna go out of my way to find him. Hopefully one day, though.
Maple, just going around islands and found her. I thought, eh, she’s popular so I could hold on to her for a bit then sell her later down the road. I already knew she was cute since my brother had her in New Leaf, but actually having her on my island made me fall in love. Definitely a keeper.
Felicity. I always thought she was cute anyway but she was never one that I'd really go for. I just saw her on a mystery island one day and thought well, I don't have any cats yet, she is pretty cute. Now she's just the cutest thing, always sending me letters, calling me her bestie, BFF's, etc. I just love her.
stitches, he was the first lazy villager i ran into on a nook island trip and i knew he was popular so i invited him. i was never a fan of him, but i talked to him everyday and just fell in love - the lazy dialogue is so cute i love hearing them talk about bugs and eating. also when he naruto runs his toe beans are mismatched colors from his “fur” i dont think i could ever give him up now
Walt!!!! I used to have him for a while in my new leaf town and I really loved him but I had to let him go ))))): I wouldn't mind having him in my island but I want a female villager specifically a snooty.
But Cole became a fave of mine. And maybe its that little tooth of his but I've grown so much I had to keep him. Plus he's a different type of lazy unlike Zucker and Sherb.
Yikes I originally snagged Fauna from an island bc I knew she was popular and I was thinking hey maybe I'll help someone get their dreamie but shes reeeaaaalllllly growing on me.
Bea! She’s adorable and one of the first villagers I saw on a NMT island
She was an instant invite and I’m so glad she lives on my island!
As for dreamies I don’t have that accidentally became a dreamie.. definitely Maddie! I came across her wikia page while I was looking at Bea’s to see what other games she was in and honestly I wanted Maddie as soon as I saw her picture. She’s so adorable and I’m hoping I’ll have her at some point
I found Midge and Sprinkle on random islands and I can't imagine not having them on my island! I didn't have anything in mind outside of "I want something cute" and when I found them, it was love at first sight!
As far as villagers that I wasn't sure about at first, I guess I'd say Jitters. He's a sweetheart.
