Pretty much just the stone path as well as the dark dirt path - sometimes the light dirt path as well for accents. I'm going for a forest-y/ medieval/ etc. kind of vibe and those look the most natural!
I use both the stone paths for my main pathway. The main one is the arched stone, I use the other path for circles and smaller stepping stones to break up the larger pathway. I also use the wood path and brick path for different decorated areas of my island.
I was going for a natural look, but then I realized I just wanted to make it something I really liked.
I try to use all of them in different areas. So my main paths are the arched stone. But round island services and shops it’s the red brick. Villagers get the dark wood. Man made natural areas like parks or orchards have the light dirt and natural areas like forests and the campsite have the dark dirt path.
I’m still trying to decide where to put the normal stone and terracotta path.
I have been going back and forth and changing my mind so often. Brick vs. stone. In the end, I decided to go with brick due to the fact that the ground outside the plaza is also brick. I was able to put a nice brick fence around it, and also coordinate the rest of my island with brick bridges and stairs.
I do use the other paths for minor decor, however. I use the dark dirt as garden patches, and the terracotta around my swimming pool area. I'm still working on other areas and will surely incorporate other path types into them as well
I use custom paths, despite it not making a good and realistic sound when you walk in them. It’s this dirty path with stones on them, almost like a dirt and gravel mix; I really like it. I might change it later.
My first path was brick, but I just didn’t like how it looked overall and how repetitive it looked
I originally had the idea of using different paths for different "neighborhoods". One has a brick path right now. I was going to use stone for the few houses I have planned to be down by the beach, and then I have terracotta in my "main street" section of my island where all my shops and museum are. Last neighborhood which would have been more Forrest themed was going to be somewhat of a mix.
Now I'm just thinking of making it all more consistent... but idk, still planning. I've taken it very slow as far as designing my island to expand my playtime.
I used to use the Terra cotta path but now I have a custom one over it. There's some small areas where I used the brick path and both stone paths. Never used the forth paths as paths.
I mainly use the dirt path but I have some custom over grown grass around the edges. I used the stone one infront of my stores though. I hope one day they will add colour variations.
I use terracotta paths for my residential/plaza area and I use wood paths for the villager gardens and after crossing a bridge to go to the area with the shops. Half of my island is forest and has no paths
I've been using the wood path. It's the darkest without being dirt and I'm going for a slightly developed forest town. Dark dirt in a stepping stone style for off main path, and a stepping stone custom design for very woodsy/mountain areas.
