Which characters do you want back?

The Sanrio ones (especially Toby, Chai, and Étoile - I have them ready to go!), and Medli (my partner wants her, but she's my favourite Zelda character too). I'm pretty sure I would immediately replace Marshal with Toby, and I'd have to find room for Chai and Étoile.
Cece and Veche are very sweet, too! I think Faith and Petunia would look amazing, especially with a HD glow-up! And Kit! Huggy's name is very cute. I also like a lot of the islander villagers, like Flossie and Elina. Honestly, most of them are great...
Of the special NPCs, I want pretty much all of them back! But the biggest priorities imo are Pelly/Phyllis/Pete, then Katrina, GRACIE, and Luna, and then Copper, Booker, Kapp'n, Tortimer, Katie, Blanca, etc. I'd like Wendell back, maybe with more patterns like Sable's patterns, or customisable fences, or the ability to put stuff on our cliffs (murals)? Idk. Snowboy is in the game, and I imagine Jingle and Jack will be too. I also miss the gyroid outside of the house and want to be able to customise our mailbox to the gyroid. ;-;

I really liked a lot of the Amiibo update villagers! All of the Sanrio ones are adorable and I'm a huge Zelda fan so I loooooved Epona and Wolf Link. Ganon and especially Medli were mad awkward to me, though. I understand getting rid of all of the others since their designs aren't anything exciting other than Bow and Meow from ages ago. I did have Iggy on Gamecube though and I really liked him. And Sven is such a cute old man!
I miss all of the NPCs so much! Daisy Mae is the cutest thing ever so I'm fine with her replacing Joan, and I do like the new bug/fishing tourney characters more as well. I'm more than okay with Phinneas never coming back. He always seemed like a creeper to me, and I felt like I had to keep an eye on my cute little villagers around him hahaha. Katrina is my number one who I want back. I'd LOVE for Copper and sweet baby angel Booker to return. Pascal is the best little stoner, Pave is SO fun, the dream suite was everything. The Resettis' appearance doesn't count imo. This is already the longest post, but I could seriously go on and on. I'm so passionate about this game smh

for villagers i would like to see tarou, bow, meow, megumi, sunny, pierre, woolio, faith, cupcake, & all of the special amiibo villagers (especially the sanrio ones!!) return.
for npcs i'd like for serena, blanca, wendell, digby, harriet, pelly/phyllis/pete, copper/booker, katie, kappn' & his family, lottie, katrina, pascal, wishy, brewster & reese/cyrus to make a return.
if i could only pick one from each though, i'd choose meow & brewster
