Miy river mouths are in the south and in the east.
I also like the south/south combination, but I think the islands which have them are harder to terraform - or is it just me? :D

I have the double south river exits. I like them a lot. I connected them basically immediately close to the beach, creating a "sandbar".

Double south. It's a love hate. I hated them when I was started to terraform and I had no idea what to do with them. But now I have the areas around them completes, I'm OK with them. I love one side more than the other and I'm thinking of redoing the side with my campsite.

South and west. Makes river bifurcation a bit easier to create.

Would love to be able to do something like this though! Great idea. 🙌

Mine are to the south and the west, I really love it. Having them on the south and west left the east part of my island open for my neighborhood.

Mine are south/ east. The southern riverbed is to the left of my airport, the eastern bed is closer to the north side of the island. The southern one is in such an inconvenient spot! But the other one doesn't really bother me!

I have double south river exits. I didn't start questioning my opinion on them until reading other comments about them being a pain to work with on these forums. XD I describe my planned island layout as symmetrical at a macroscopic level.

Yeah double south is great for symmetrical layouts with the buildings and paths. My airport and residential services are not aligned so making mine symmetrical is a lot more work. There's a lot of great symmetrical island designs out there but it's just not my cup of tea.

I have south-south river exits. I remembered how coveted the front-facing waterfall and "private island" were in NL and (foolishly) assumed I'd want the same for NH. Well, five months into NH I'm HUGELY regretting that decision because yep, it really does make it harder to work around when terraforming. Once I figure out what I want to do with my island, I hope I can work in the rivermouths into my layout.

I chose a double south on my new main island. I find it makes beachcombing a lot easier! It is a bit awkward having two long thin strips of land, but I’m sure I can work something out with it.

Double south wild child squad!

They're not easy to work with, especially in the beginning, but I do also think it's nicer to navigate. And after a bit of terraforming, I don't see any issue with them anymore at all, zero regrets here

South and east.

A little annoying, because it would better suit my layout if it went west. I had to work around it.

My airport and Res Services situation is the same as yours. And I agree with there being plenty of well-executed symmetrical island designs out there. For me, I avoid perfect symmetry on my island because it ends up looking overly developed and loses the essence of the original premise of the game. But to each their own!

Arctin has south and west mouths (voted double south because I consider Evwirt as my main island). I liked that layout but I couldn’t play with it all too much since I share that island with my parents. the little bit that I did terraform still gives my parents issues at times.

I have south/west! The south river mouth is actually connected to a long river but my west river mouth is cut off and connected to a stubby waterfall.

south/east! the only criteria for a map I had going in on day one was not to have double south exits because it felt a lot harder to terraform. my east exit is quite high up so it's not perfect for design purposes but it creates a nice cosy area in the corner so i'm happy with it

South south. It was frustrating when I was first laying out my island, but it works out now

I think we might’ve actually chosen the same layout! it works really well for me since I didn’t want to terraform an inland island for my project but I can see if you aren’t going for what I’m planning it is going to be a problem terraforming wise.

I kind of wish I had one that was in the east or west. I have two that are going south.
