Megan moved out, so i used a bunch of NMTs to look for.. well.. i was looking for Beau. Not gonna lie. Let some good ones go 😞. Dodged a few real uggos.. got down to my last ticket. Patty the cow. Not great, not terrible. She's a taurus, like me. I like her house inside and out. I lack a peppy villager atm, soooo... welcome Patty 🤔 either that or leave it to chance. What would you have done? If u dont find a villager does one move in the next day? I've never actually let that happen. I'm so scared of that purple frog with the makeup 😵😨

Hi!!!
So I somehow got really lucky
And I found Beau on my second mystery island
I didn’t know how popular he was
I just thought he was cute so I asked him to live on my island
Listen I want to help you out
I can go over to your island and give you 20 NMT to help you on your hunt!

I let chance decide one last time by having someone random the next day. If I don’t like them I replace with an amiibo I have. I do try to settle for someone within the last 10 NMT I have

Just make sure to have enough tickets that will last you for a day. It also depends on my mood if I want to continue. I did about 184 before deciding to go with Skye. Like your experience, I passed up to a lot of good villagers.

I usually don't pass up villagers. I was looking for Chops once and ran into Diana, so I invited her, I didn't keep going. Same with Sherb, I ran into him and invited him to my island even when I wasn't necessarily looking for him.

I haven't ever gone hunting with a specific villager in mind, since the odds are just... really, really bad. normally i just pick the first non-ugly animal, as there are tons of villagers with nice designs! the only reason i'd hesitate is if i have duplicate personality types. i think having an open mind while villager hunting will save you alot of grief. while the thrill of the hunt is nice, it depends on how much time you want to set aside. i read somewhere that if you don't leave the airport, you can continue flying out the next day without the day rolling over (if that makes any sense). if you really want a specific villager, it might be more worthwhile to just pay someone on the new neighbourhood network (assuming they can be amiibo'd).

in your case, id probably just take patty and let her move out ASAP. i had this terrible anteater move in when i accidentally left a slot open and i was pretty upset. better the devil you know than someone in the top 5 ugly animal list :(

I would have settled and taken Patty, too. I've had several random move-ins from when I forgot to go island-hopping, or thought I had more days to find someone. Sadly, they've all ranged from so-so to terrible. Peaches (she was alright), Spork, Diva, Limberg...Yikes. So I think it's always better to adopt an OK villager than risk a bad one!

That said, I've also had insanely good luck with island-hunting for dreamies (when I actually do it), so that balances my luck out a bit.

That said, now that I have seven dreamies, I'm starting to change my island-hunting policy. Now, I will settle for the first good villager I find (even if I intend to move them out eventually), because I really want to experience having a lot of different villagers and also collect their photos. I'm worried that if I find all my dreamies too fast, I'll get sick of having a stagnant island and get bored of the game.

It's come to the point that even when I look for a broad array of animals, I end up letting chance fill my plot. I find too many animals I just don't care for. Not only that, but I don't get any 'good' animals, only meh ones.

Avery is the exception, cause he's actually kinda cool he's like a walking living stone thing.

NMT island hopping is a horrific experience if you’re looking for a particular villager. I’ve only done it for the first villagers I needed. I get the first decent villager I see. I just don’t wanna end up with someone I hate. It got crazy when I got to my 9th and 10th villager because although I wasn’t looking for a specific villager, I was looking for specific personalities so I can complete them in my island. It was terrible. I kept finding the rejects. And kept on getting duplicates. I wasn’t even looking for dreamies. I blew about 200K worth of miles that time. I was traumatized. I never island hopped again after that.

For me, I’ve set up a strategy to PREVENT this from happening. I look at how many tickets I have and then I settle on a number of tickets where I will start excepting any good ones I find, even though they’re not my main focus. With this, I’ve gotten Judy, who I didn’t like at first, but now I’m starting to love! 😍
