When villagers move they leave an item behind in the lost n found box

So I've had several villagers move away. Twiggy, Ankha, Phoebe, Flora, Poncho, Lily, Bella and Reneigh I never bothered to check the lost n found box but a few days ago I did. The first time I checked it I saw Phoebe left the dress I gave her for her birthday. I thought it was rude. I hated her. But as I looked more I saw more items. Anhka's black bath towel was in ther. Flora left a Ms. Flamingo. Twiggy left the pink party dress I gave her. Lily left the system Kitchen. Bella left her mug. I don't exactly remember what Poncho left. Reneigh left me her coconut planter too! I don't know I thought this was a cute little easter egg. The villagers leaving something behind as a way to say "Hey, I've moved on but never forget I ever lived here." I thought it was cute.

I just never noticed it until a few days ago,, I thought Phoebe was being mean but it was the opposite! It's nice to know,, we don't get a letter but we get an item,,

Ankha left me her gold casket! I was so pleased, as I don't have the DIY for that. It has become part of my sculpture park.

I never know how to view this because they usually leave gifts I’ve given them. Is it meant as a kind gesture, did they forget to take it with them, or did they just not want the item any more? I guess it’s open to interpretation.

Naomi left me a piece of antique furniture but idr which one it was. Probably clock bc I have it still

Bubbles left me... uh, can't remember, but probably a kettlebell or smth dumb

Lionel left me one of the first clothing items I gave him, a blue tunic shirt thing. He looked ugly in it - maybe leaving knocked some sense into him lol

Astrid left me smth I gave her that she never wore I think? That or a tire toy

Yes, really exciting when they leave behind cool or expensive stuff, but also disappointing when they just throw in an old shirt you gave them which is what mostly happened to me. Vivian left one dress i gifted her so i guess she didnt like it that much, although she wore it many times to be nice. She alos left her wallpaper or flooring but i cant recall which, or maybe it wasnt left by her and just appeared on coincidence. Sprinkle also only left a shirt but she lived in a starter home so i wasnt really hoping to get furniture from her. If someone threw away my birthday gift to them, i would be insulted too smh.

Mitzi left the pineapple dress I gave her, which she looked adorable in. I'm glad it isn't just me T_T

I think it’s really cute, best items I’ve got is pyramid from Ankha, a frozen bed from Erik and a pink springy ride on from Pietro!

Whaaat? I never noticed this! I think none of them must have left anything very memorable in my game, otherwise I would have realized it sooner. Hmm, maybe my next villager who moves out will leave something good...
