When someone says can I check out your shops?

I don't mind if people ask to look at my shops, I'll lead them to my shopping center and wait outside on a bench for them to be done. I've never had anyone share their custom designs in my ables, I think people on this forum are usually pretty polite and are aware of basic AC "etiquette."

I always get so scared to say no even tho I really want to. My shops are the furthest thing away from my airport so it worries me. I also have things that can be picked up as decoration outside so I don't want them taking it. Whenever people ask I just usually try and find a nice way to say no because I like to keep trades quick and easy and sometimes I have trades I have to get to when they ask and I dont want to keep people waiting on me

My worst fear with trades is that someone would put something inappropriate in my Ables' store - I play the game with my 3-year-old quite often, so it would totally ruin the game for us, as I've read that the villagers still wear these designs even after they've been replaced with a different pattern.

I don't trade on my island much, but if someone asked to check out the shops, I think I'd have to follow them into the clothes shop just for my own peace of mind - I don't care how weird that would seem!

I don't mind if people want. to visit my shops. I have yet to see a villager wear on the designs in the able's shop. i rarely have anyone come to my island anyway. The only thing that was kind of annoying was when a person on here was specifically looking to visit Leif. he was in my town so I let her in. After she was there she told me she was looking for roses but he didn't have any(which I would've told her if i'd have known that was her goal). But even though he didn't have roses she still talked to him for a long freakin time.

I let them, but I wait anxiously to check and make sure they didn't put up any weird designs in Able Sisters that may infect my villagers. I know most people on this forum wouldn't do that but I still hold my breath. Do you let people visit your shops or is the risk too great?

I am the person who always asks to check other ppl's shop but mostly Nook's for the color variations. I like to hunt for those... I'll only check Able's if the other person offers it and I happen to be looking for something.

I was more chill about this until an hour ago, while surfing on Reddit, I saw a post about someone who had opened their island to sell turnips, and an unknown island visitor put up a NAZI uniform design in the shop and some villagers started wearing it. Yikes ;/ gonna be more paranoid from now one!

i’ve never traded on this forum yet but checking out the whole thing, everyone seems pretty cool here; i have traded on other sites and i always try to check their trading history and feedback before letting them on my island since i get paranoid a lot - if i do feel like i trust them enough, then yeah i’ll let em shop

I usually let people shop if they ask. I've never had anyone put up a design in ables and didn't realize that it was possible for people to do that.

Depends on when they ask.

If they ask while we're conducting the trade, I'm more likely to say yes, though I will usually follow them into the shop to make sure that they're not engaging in funny business (eg. uploading custom designs in Able Sisters', saying they're going shopping when they're really not). Depends on whether I have other trades to complete or other things to do, since it obviously makes the trade longer.

If they ask while they're on my island, I'm more likely to say no. Sorry, but you could have asked when we were negotiating on the trade. I get that sometimes people think of things after the fact, but it's never fun to be put on the spot and to have to communicate/negotiate using the in-game keyboard.

I never even thought about Able Sisters... but, I only meet up with people on here, and I think it'd be fair to give them negative feedback if they DID put something in there. So it doesn't bother me much.

I also always say they can check them and they can buy whatever. My shops are even super close to my airport, so it's easy for them to do so without having to wander all over my island to find them!

Most people are just looking for a quick trade and that's fine with me, if I really wanted specific clothing I'd just ask for it on here. I do often take the offer of someone says I can do it though.

I never really worried about the custom designs, we have a feedback system that I can use to tell that someone will have good manners or that I can use to warn others if they don't. And even then, I did put up some custom stuff up there myself and I could just replace it

I think most people don't even realise leaving designs is an option though.

I’ve only had about 4 people on my island from here but only one of them asked about shops. She was bringing me cherries so of course I said yes. I have all of my personal designs up in Ables. I don’t mind people shopping. I usually check Nooks and buy whatever I want in the morning anyways. I’ve never really thought about the able designs though

I've never had anyone ask but if they asked last moment while trading, I'd want to say no since it wasn't part of the trade, but idk I'd probably say yes under pressure though

i typically will say yes if they ask prior to them arriving on my island and if i’m in the mood to host for a bit longer than i would for just a quick trade but if they ask once already on my island, i’ll say no as i need a heads up for stuff like that ;;

Whether or not I allow somebody to depends on if I have the time or not. I have on a couple of occasions, but one time I was unable to since I was in the middle of work and couldn't spend any more time not working. As well, 2 of the times the person has asked when they're on my island, and it's always awkward being put on the spot in the middle of the trade, especially since I wouldn't have expected them to ask it. I wish they'd just ask before they come over so that way it's easier for me to say yes/no.

I wouldn't ask because I am only looking for specific things and feel like it would be a waste of time. I wouldn't like it if someone asked because I think that it is something that should be offered for trades with strangers, especially on a place like Nookazon, although I usually offer people to shop at my island because I am not interested in the things being sold on my shop and feel that it would go to waste. I really like it when my friends put their designs on Ables, and think that it is funny that someone spammed my Able's with their design. I think it makes the game more fun and quirky, although can see why people would be upset, and have been lucky that no one has posted anything offensive yet.

In NL I would always ask to check out shops, but in NH I kinda just want to do whatever trade and get back to my island

From what I've read, the issue is that you can't replace these designs. Well, you can put your own design up in its place, but your villagers may continue to wear the old design.

Wasn't that exactly what we have Isabelle for? I always see people saying that she won't permanently remove clothing from a villager unless it's a custom design (since those can actually be rude/offensive etc)

In theory, yes. I don't think it actually works, though.

There have been loads of people on here who tried to complain to Isabelle about a custom design and it just reappeared the next day.
