When someone says can I check out your shops?

im actually one of those people who ask to visit shops oops. but i do it less now because i'm not looking for much clothing/items nowadays and can be in a bit of a rush.

i didn't even know random visitors could put designs in your ables??? nintendo's wack for that... but they also let people that aren't on your friends list to be able to dive from your airport, so, yeah. not too surprised.

anyways, wish people weren't scared of just saying no. i mean i would completely understand because we don't know each other that well and it's not like i can't shop at my own island or someone else's lol.

I fence my island every time I trade, so it’s impossible for someone to check my shops unless they ask beforehand. I do this so people don’t run around my island

I've never thought about it that way! I suppose they could do that. My friends do that all the time. Sometimes I just see someone walking around in a mystery outfit I don't remember displaying, go check, and they put it there. I've never had a trader/random person display clothing there though!

I guess I'll have to take that into consideration when allowing people I've never interacted with to visit Ables!

i usually say yes but good lort is it annoying when, like other people have said, i'm just expecting a quick 1:1 trade and they buy every color variation of every item in my shop LOL
if i'm trading on someone else's island and they offer for me to check out their shops, i still feel bad and try to only purchase one or two items at a time (if only nintendo could fix this...) i never directly ask to shop on someone else's island, i'd rather just trade for it separately!

If someone asks me to visit my shops I almost always say yes.(although it isnt asked that many times when we do 1:1 trades). I had one time that someone put a design at my Able sisters without asking ;') It was a green jacket so it wasnt that bad but still.

when people ask me if they can shop I almost always let them, in fact I usually say beforehand 'feel free to shop' because I like to do the same when I visit someone else's island. I do always ask people before arriving on their island if they don't mind me shopping there, doing it without asking people just doesn't feel right to me. When people shop on my island I just expect them to shop, not to mess with my island (putting up a design in Able Sisters would be messing with my island to me) so I just trust them. I haven't had anyone put a weird design in my Able Sisters yet, so that's good! I only dislike when random quick trades take a long time because someone is shopping, but as long as they are polite I don't really mind

I never even thought of that issue with Ables.
Sure, that can be a problem with other communities but only a really sadistic person would do that without asking and I don't see why someone with high feedback, an active member of the community here would do so. Just check the feedback.
I don't really have a paranoia with other people visiting, they can do so little in your island if you don't leave stuff lying around. And for me it would take away a lot of the fun if I couldn't show my island off and have people over
Worst case scenario you can just replace the design before anybody picks it up, with something bland like a beige sweater that goes with everyone. And complaining to Isabelle actually works pretty well with customs, more than with regular clothing
Also I like to do shopping when I'm at someone's island, so it makes sense that I let people do the same

I always let Them when they ask.
it’s really inconvenient though because I placed my shops all the way towards the back, so it takes forever to get there.

I say yes. Especially if they're buying something from me already through online trading. Gotta make the customer happy. The customer is always right!

I don't mind people shopping, and as far as putting up designs at ables, you can always go in as soon as they leave and remove it. I don't think it will affect your villagers unless you leave it up. Either way, it would be inconvenient but not the end of the world for me.

I always let people shop if they want to. I’ve never had anyone put up a design in the Able’s and frankly that’s never even occurred to me as a possibility.

I let them, but I wait anxiously to check and make sure they didn't put up any weird designs in Able Sisters that may infect my villagers. I know most people on this forum wouldn't do that but I still hold my breath. Do you let people visit your shops or is the risk too great?

Oh no, I didn't know they could do this. Can you remove them? I'm never letting anyone check out my clothes shop. Actually, maybe just go into the shop with them? Make sure they don't.

I let people visit my shops, but I didn't realize they could put up designs! That seems like something that only Best Friends should be able to do.

I forgot that visitors can do that. I think that detail is so forgettable that anyone that doesn’t have malicious intention wouldn’t randomly display their design, much less without permission.
I never ask if I can shop, but if the host offers I usually take it. Whenever I host anything longer than 1:1 trades, I give them permission to shop, unsupervised.
The majority of this community on site is rather respectful, most tend to ask and are quick about it as they can. There’s not much to worry about when trading here. Knock on wood.

Hope I never have to deal with something like this, but if anyone does it without permission, it is worth a negative review. It’s a unreversable action. No matter what you replace it with, your villagers are going to start wearing whatever is in that design slot.

I've done this once because only one person asked. Fortunately they didn't put any weird designs up on my Able's. At the time I didn't know strangers could put up custom designs (and that these custom designs cannot be removed...) so I feel very fortunate indeed

If someone asks to shop, I usually let them unless I have another trade after or have something else I need to do.
I don't mind people shopping, if someone did put a design up, I'd just change it back to whatever I displayed.

I tend to ask people is I can visit their shops (guilty, too guilty!! )

But I'm always respectful of the host's island. If I asked them prior visiting, I ask them again in-game in case they want to lead the way, if I see something I want from the "only 1" section at nook's, I ask them if I can buy it and if they want to catalog it before I leave. I know not all people can be considerate and there's the possibility that somebody can mess up on purpose your town but here, with the user feedback, you can reduce this kind of situation.
