When do mushrooms start growing?

I've been time traveling and it's now the start of November and I have yet to find mushrooms growing. I can't figure out why these stupid mushrooms won't start popping up

Mushrooms appear around special stumps (trees you cut down using the silver axe or a regular axe if you're lucky). In November the mush set will appear as mushrooms around trees so you have to look out for them.

 

[Moonfish]

They spawn at the base of trees in November, on all sides. If your trees are surrounded by paths, flowers or bushes none will spawn.
