I've been considering the idea of a second town for a bit, even though I started my town just a month ago. I realise that there are quite a few villagers that I like and would love them in another town (I really like Marshal, Julian & Colton, but 3 smugs in one town would be a bit much). I set my provisional date to get a new town either when I get T&T Emporium (Gracie has never visited my town so it'll take a while) or when my town hits its 1 year anniversary, which ever is the more suitable date.

For those of your that have 2 (or 3 or 4 or 27) towns or are thinking about getting another one, what made you finally get another town?

Also, did you save up just for another cartridge? Or did you save for another 3DS in order to visit yourself?

I decided to for similar reasons as yours (i wanted more villagers and i love a bunch of normals and i had 4 normals at the time). Plus i had an interest in cycling at the time so i decided to go buy a second copy and i have no regrets. I just recently bought a 3ds xl (a month ago) so i just have two cartridges and i just alternate between them

Ever since I heard that you could get more than one town I decided to get a digital one for my birthday.
Then, after the 2nd I bought a third for my Mom. She didn't like it, most games make her vision go wacky. So I took it and turned it into a cycling town. I had one here once, but since I've been playing Mario Kart 8 since its release its dead now. If I can get back into cycling and revive it that'll be great.
A year after, I decided to get a 4th for a themed town based off of Ducktales! It was a fiasco due to inactivity, so I restarted and made it a normal town with dreamies. Now since that the one year challenge is back up, I will be using the 4th game to use for the challenge.

Now i'm considering getting a 5th. Call me an AC:NL addict... :p

I wanted to do a cycling town. I tried it a few times but it never worked out, so now I have a 2nd copy that I never use. I wish I had some crazy ideas, i might going to make a themed town but im too lazy.

I plan to get a second town soon, I want another town because I just have a really good idea for a nice theme, and more villagers, too

My main town will always be my main town though.

I decided to get a second town for cycling purposes, since I need TBT and I like helping people get dreamies. I've been inactive on it as of late, but I'll be getting back to it soon.
I'm hoping to get a third copy for christmas, either to use as another cycling town or just to make a second village! I have a lot of dreamies that I can't fit in my main town.

I have Freya, Monique, and Olivia in my town (3 snooties) and it doesn't bother me. Also have Bob, Punchy, and Cole (why won't you move out) who are three lazies. No one says the same lines each day. But I understand wanting another town. I have thought about it too. Would be nice to have a jock and an uchi in my town.

While I was studying abroad I decided to buy a Japanese LL, and figured AC:NL would be the best starter game (it's a pretty simple game to understand). Turned out there was a promotion going on & I was able to DL a free 3rd copy after I'd already returned to the US.
Used to use them both for cycling, but now I've got a main town, a side town, and a TT/cycling/storage town. Pretty nice when I run out of room everywhere else.

I got a second town a few months ago for weeding purposes. My son and daughter each have a 3DS, so I can actually travel to/from the town as needed.

I wanted a cycling town to get my dreamies easier (course, this was before I knew what the term "dreamie" meant, so it was just "get the villagers I want without emptying my pockets on the villager trading forum", really).

Then, I wanted to make themed towns. My main town doesn't have a true "theme" to it. Since I was told that dream addresses stick even when the town is reset, I figured it'd be fun to do various towns with various villagers and various themes. The driving theme I wanted to work on at the time was a Portal 2 themed town, but I decided to put that on the back burner for a town based off of No.6.
I mean, stuff like Pokemon and Naruto are all over the place, and I wanted a challenge as well; take the PWPs given and try to work them into these more challenging ideas of towns.

I would get a second copy if I had the allowance to pay for it, so then I wouldn't have to reset any of my towns. It seems like a really good idea to have a spare c; But I also like having just one game to worry about. A second town would be pretty useful, but I'm too generous and I wouldn't ever want to leave it untouched. o n o'

My 2nd copy was a TT town. Grow a lot of perfect fruit and play the holidays. During the winter I cut down most of my trees so I could make the snow people. Also came in handy for Pave day. Ran around without worrying about the flowers.

It's now a almost real town. There are 4 theme houses. College, snow, Gracie and bug/weeding/fishing house.
It's the town that I open to my friends. My main town is closed to visitors. I grow lots of perfect fruit and leave baskets for visitors.
Also have a catalog and free section at the train station and back of the event plaza.

After frequent TT accidents in LuzDale, I decided to get a 2nd town so that I could TT whenever I please.

A few months ago. Seeing so many people with so 2-5 towns made me really want to buy a another copy. I also wanted different villagers and just having 10 wasn't working for me at all. and since I had money for it why not, but thankfully I didn't need to waste a penny since my friend gave me his copy. Though having only in ds and transferring items/bells to the other is/was a pain.

But I also like having just one game to worry about. A second town would be pretty useful, but I'm too generous and I wouldn't ever want to leave it untouched. o n o'

Yea this is part of my consideration in getting a 2nd town as well, that having another one to manage would sap too much of my time (I only ever play Pokemon & ACNL and it feels like I don't have time for much else already...). Although, I want to see my current town completed and everyone in it happy, everyone's houses decorated etc. etc. before I rethink about getting another copy. :o

I already had 2 towns from the release date, because I got the limited edition 3DS XL that had it Pre-Installed and I had the physical copy pre-ordered previously to me finding out about the 3DS.
I decided to start up my second town a couple months after the release date, because I wanted to find my main dreamie, Coco.
I got her after like 2 er 3 town map resets. I got lucky and got her in the original 5.
I still have that town today and I just cycle right now from it, but I do plan on making it the town that I put my frogs and Octopus trio and having it be a mushroom theme through the entire town.

I just picked up my second copy. Never realized how much work I put into my town until I started that new town. Got Freya and Chrissy on a pretty good map. Too bad I have Freya in my other town though. Lol

My first town was my little brothers...on my 3DS.., and I was limited towards doing stuff with it.

I bought my second copy of Animal Crossing: New Leaf when I wanted to try cycling for the first time. However, I accidentally messed up the cycling method, so that's when I decided to have a second town.

I don't go on my second town much since I haven't finished my first one yet. I'm thinking of giving it to my best friend since she's finally getting the 3DS she wanted.
