I saw this thread on Gamefaqs and I thought it was very interesting!!

I know there's many other websites... Animal Crossing Community, sub-redits, Gamefaqs, etc

Which one's have you been on? How do they feel/compare to The Bell Tree forums?

Personally, I love TBT. It's the only one I'm a part of. It feels like there's a fairly active community. Moderators seem pretty reasonable from my experience, and it's very well organized. I have noticed that some people are a bit aggressive in the way they talk to each other, but that's gotta be everywhere because people are people, the website they use doesn't change that.

I feel good about the one I joined, it's new... but it's going to be a lot less restrictive and authoritarian. There will be more freedom there than at other AC forums. Nobody will have to fear being banned for differences of opinions and such.

I've been on the enormous AC subreddit, and the GameFAQs one. The subreddit is so large that you can't even share your Dodo on there publicly on the FC/Dodo megathread without the game crashing instantly due to user influx to your island. GameFAQs' user base has a higher concentration of Gen Xers and older Millennials, so there's considerably more 30+ people like me on there, but it's also quite cliquish. I don't really go there anymore. I'm also now spending less time on the subreddit because I already have a fair number of friends from it.

ironically, my first ever ac forum was gamefaqs. i joined a few months after new leaf came out in NA and my experience on there was decent? i was 11 at the time and i actually searched up my gamefaqs account the other day and certain things i did and said were uh,,, questionable but it was a good forum regardless of my weird behaviour.

i also joined acc around the same time that i joined here and it was good! it had a nice rating system and the people on there were generally good - i didn’t run into any problems and while i no longer use it as i prefer tbt, it’s still a nice forum ;v:

I've gone to check out other websites when I am looking for answers that I cannot find in TBT since other websites have a larger population of members compared to TBT, the content will also be larger and more diverse. However, the thing I like most about TBT is the rating system and the overall easy-on-the-eyes layout. It's also the only forum that I have registered for and consequently will only use

I used GameFaqs for New Leaf and it was definitely a lot more cutthroat than TBT. The post quality is worse there as well and the chance of being scammed is much higher. I'm happy with this website, in comparison.

I have googled questions about Animal Crossing before and been subsequently directed to other forums. In fact, that's how I found this site. Sometimes I'll still do that if I can't find the information I need here, but The Bell Tree was the only Animal Crossing forum I browsed that I actually felt like joining. It seemed to have the best information overall, the nicest community, and it looked better than all the others.

I'm not sure if Nookazon counts as a forum, but I am apart of their discord! Everyone I have met so far has been lovely and sweet.
Unfortunately, there are people who sell hacked items (handmade items, wedding items) for crazy prices, but everyone seems really nice.
I've also heard scary stories of some scammers, but they are in every community. Overall, my experience has been positive and I'm pretty active on there~

TBT will forever be one of the nicest communities I've joined <3 I am thankful for everyone on the site -- you're all family.

I prefer TBT for chat purposes. Great community, and it's much easier to read and respond to messages than on Reddit or Discord due to their user interfaces. I've tried chatting on the AC:NH discord before, but even in the slow channel, chat can move quite quickly and morph topics quickly as well.

I can't remember how I found it in the first place but ACC was the first animal crossing forum I joined and I remember I was added to this group chat?(I don't remember what it was called) of other Australian users which was fun. It was also the first place I got rick rolled and I didn't know what it was at the time and I was panicking because I thought I had broken the computer!

EDIT: I just logged back into ACC (I somehow remembered the login) and it hasn't changed at all! It's a bit unsettling tbh

Gosh, I had an account on ACC (Animal Crossing Community) in like 2008/09? So the Wild World and City Folk days. I think it was pretty chill there but then again it wouldn't have had all this craziness of trading/scamming like today.

I also had Neoseeker, for AC and Pokemon, though the AC community wasn't nearly as active as the pokemon.

Now I mainly use this place and discord sometimes, discord is good if you need something quick because of the amount of people active online, but be wary of scams there, there isn't a good way to report or check if someone is reliable.

Same here! Belltreeforums is pretty much the only Animal Crossing forum I'm a part of. People are generally very kind and fair and cordial to each other. I have noticed things have been getting a bit worse lately with the new influx of users though. I've usually only had positive experiences for the past 5 years before New Horizons came out. I think now that there's a wider audience, we're getting a lot of different types of people. Still, heaps better than other places! Less of a gamble than Discord where I feel like I'm playing Russian Roulette haha.

This is the best forum and I really never had a desire to communicate on other ones. I have used AC exchange just to sell turnips, and people in the chat were nice too. The only off-putting thing on this site so far was me being told not to try to mod when I linked a correct thread to someone who was trying to sell something in the general chat thread. Felt like I was being penalized for trying to be helpful and I do not agree with whichever mod that was and their wording/approach. Other than that I’ve loved this forum!

This is probably my favorite site, but I trade on Reddit and Nookazon too. The feedback system here gives me a sense of security and I really like collectibles too!

I've never had a bad experience on Nookazon, but I'm pretty cautious and never trade high-demand villagers. I used Reddit way more prior to coming here but people are sometimes super rude and greedy there lol.

I stay out of discords for the most part though so that might alter my opinion. I feel like those can be really hit or miss.

I’ve been lurking TBT for a really long time before making and account here and I prefer it here compared to other social media’s imo. The community here feels so much nicer and smaller but I do agree there does seemEd to be a change when New Horizons got released. But then again, I prefer this community waaaay more than the others.

I joined Animal Crossing Community shortly before Wild World came out in 2005 and used it up until 2008 or so. I made a lot of really good friends on there but also got into stupid childish online arguments with people haha. I’ve looked around on it a little in the past couple years and it really hasn’t changed at all since 2008. It’s definitely more geared toward kids, which is nice, but I think the rules might feel a little constricting if you’re an adult. I’ve only ever really thought about going back in order to get in touch with old friends there.

I used Gamefaqs pretty heavily up until 2014 for New Leaf. People can definitely be ruder there, and there were a lot of trolls, but it was okay. I’m not sure what led me to using this site more often around that time, but I do prefer TBT to gamefaqs.

I also follow some of the AC subs on reddit. There are some good ones, but ultimately I prefer a traditional forum like TBT for doing AC stuff on. I actually unfollowed the main subreddit a couple weeks ago because it had become so active and I got tired of looking at variations on the same meme every couple days. I’ll probably go back at some point, I just really needed to take a break from it haha.

I was active in a FB group for a while and it all felt very... cold, or impersonal I guess? They all only cared about trading and having the best stuff.

the sub reddits are uh... i don't really like them. but maybe that's a pet peeve of mine with the way reddit functions in general: each post has to fit ridiculously strict guidelines and rules otherwise it gets automatically deleted. yuck.
