Okay so I understand a lot of the rules people have for their towns --and I even have rules of my own. But what is it with people not wanting their visitors to talk to their villagers? How could this cause any damage? Like... I would understand this rule if the villager is in boxes and you're planning on trading them to someone, but other than that it just doesn't make any sense to me.

EDIT: please note that this isn't an attack on anyone! people should be able to play their games however they want to. and if someone has that rule for their town then I'll definitely follow it if I visit! their town, their rules. I was just curious and wanted to know why people had that rule.

Maybe they don't like the visitors bringing up the fact that someone visited?? Its a weird rule to enforce

I personally like it when my villagers bring up visitors. But yeah, maybe some people dislike it. Never thought of that.

I'm pretty sure it's just how Raven said, some people just don't like their villagers to mention other visitors. I for one don't mind, I think it's a cute game mechanic.

I guess it's because they don't like it when villagers talk about them like how they would think that player is bell pincher, individual, etc. etc.
Yeah it's odd but I'm not exactly going to question the person's town rules if they say I can't talk to their villagers

They mention visitors whether they ACTUALLY meet/speak to them or not... The only ones who do not mention visitors, are cycle villagers, because they have no relationship with the mayor.

I am put off by this "rule" , too!

I was thinking it was because it would take up time when you are picking up a villager. People just want you come get the villager and go. Stopping to talk to a villager takes up cycling time...at least that's what I think.

Unless it is a simple trade, I will not visit/play nor invite any player who feels this way.

Completely controlling, micromanaging and childish..

this. i typically just want to do the trade (i don't cycle on my main town) but after a near scam attempt i just want people to trade with me then leave and a ton of other people are like this. you are unable to end when a conversation is going on. plus the meeting so and so from so and so starts coming up and it makes it harder if you need your villagers to talk about something more specific (someone moving out)

I didn't know that!

And I mean, I respect their rules so if they ask me not to talk to their villagers I wont. I was just confused by it

In a cycle town, it is COMPLETELY different. Partly time, partly "damaging the merchandise" and partly because relationships make them stay longer.

I think, Pocky is referring to visits to non-cycle towns?

No they don`t mention the visitors, I did a lot of trading in my town, and no villager ever talked about the visitors.

my Aurora was a prime example of staying longer :(

Yeah, I was referring to non-cycle towns and non-trade visits. Like if I were to invite you over to my town and told you not to talk to any of villagers even though I was planning on letting you stay for as long as you wanted

The only time it bothers me is if someone comes from a town with a crude name and talks to all the villagers. Like no, I don't need your vulgar town name / mayor name being brought up all the time in my town especially when I have younger people around me and whatnot at times.

That does make a lot of sense! I probably should avoid talking to people's villagers on Satan then. My mom isn't even religious and she was offended by my town name haha

I don't really enforce any rules in my town. I too think it is cute when they mention other people from towns. I never really have many visitors, so they don't mention it often. It is an odd rule to impose, but to each their own.

Hahaha if only that was the crude I was talking about. I've had quite a few visitors in old towns with names consisting of vulgar adult acts and genitalia. It was horrible.
My friend has an "adult" name based town but at least she made it so you would have to actually KNOW what she shortened it of lol.
But things like town of Butts, and Hell is fine to me. :P

This is a rule that I've never had. I don't care if people talk to my villagers. If someone was in boxes and I was giving them away, I would make sure that was taken care of before I invited anyone else over.
