What's with all the adoration for Raymond?

he could be a sleeper agent, that's what i see him as, coming to my island to convict me for all the villagers i've forced out lmao
Got Raymond yesterday, the fangs are pretty cute, I don't really care about the eyes but office cat theme is pretty nice, not a villager I'd sacrifice my first born child for though.

I personally don't care all that much for him and wouldn't go out of my way to have him as a resident on my island, but I like his design well enough. I tend to like villagers with unique designs that stand out at a glance when compared to the rest of the roster, villagers like Ribbot or Ankha or Pietro. Raymond has that in some small degree due to his heterochromatic eyes and the glasses. Additionally, his coloration is nice and the Waistcoat he wears ties in well with his house's interior design being based around an office. Oh, and to top things off, he has my favorite male personality since he's a Smug. He's an all-around solid villager to me.
But again, I don't care about him that much; there are others who I would want to acquire who I've never been able to fit in New Leaf or New Horizons. The only way I'd end up with him would be if the game just spat him out to me through random chance, and even then I'd probably sell him off to someone who wants him more after a while. I might be more interested in him in the next game, but I have my 10 residents of my New Horizons island decided already.
But again, I don't care about him that much; there are others who I would want to acquire who I've never been able to fit in New Leaf or New Horizons. I love cats. Between my home and two farms, I have over 50 cats at one time. Yes, they were all cared for.
My favorite cats are black cats, he is dark gray so close enough? (Kikis nose situation bothers me...)
He is a grumpy cat!!!!!!! My absolute fave. My irl cat (not the one in my profile pic, thats a different one =3) is a large fluffy black cat who has a flat head. Thanks to that (and his huge eyes!) he always either looks mad or upset 99.9% of the time due to his ear placement. Really he is very happy and sweet after I got his health in order... he was very sick when I got him from a rescue. Anyways, thanks to his huge (almost glowing...) eyes and distressed look, he always gets so much attention at the vet office from workers and lil old ladies who worry for the baby.
Grumpy cats are such my thing that Kabuki will FOREVER be my all time fave villager.
Also, he is business-y which i find adorable in of itself. Sort of when a little kid plays boss? Its adorable, "oh, yes, sweeite. You are in charge. ^.~" He looks so serious that its cute.
On a more personal note that I found out a little bit after I had really wanted him anyways that made me want him even more, his birthday is my mom's death day... I'd really enjoy being able to celebrate life in my favorite escapism platform on the day... once i get him I fully plan on decorating his yard with white cosmos, which is the closest to daisies in game... my moms fave flower.

As your seeing. There are a lot of reason someone would like him. As you can see in my Sig. I have him cause I like him. Some say I am part of the herd and just want him cause he is popular, but I like him for different reasons.
I love his look. His fur color stands out and Russian Blues are amazingly beautiful cats. At least he looks like a Russian Blue to me.
He gets along with all the villager types I usually have. So there is little to no conflict from him.
I wanted him for the story of my village. He is an important part. He is Ankha's new Boyfriend. She is best villager so she deserves the best partner. ;P
Yes, I was first introduced to Raymond via youtube. Good fans should promote their favorites heavily so that everyone sees and want's them to. That's how you make a character popular. Who is Yuka? Don't know? Ya most might not cause they don't have a huge fan base promoting them and pushing them up the ranks via video and pictures. You don't see people requesting Yuka heavily cause she isn't new and no one is talking about her enough. I mean have you seen her. She is a cute blue koala. Yet on several lists of villager popularity. She is near or at the bottom of those list.
So that might give a little more insight. Maybe if people started making vids of Yuka in a maid uniform she might.... hmmm naw. Raymond does look incredibly adorable in a maid uniform. ;P

Hey, man, yeah, it's fine to like him. I'm just saying that he makes me uncomfortable and I wonder why others are drawn to him.
Didn't mean to project any hate towards those that do. You like who you like. I just want to know why. I'm curious like that.
