What's the story behind your town name?

When I got wild world, we were in the process of buying a family cottage. After we had settled on buying one on lake Rosseau, I named my town after it. With new leaf, I can't settle for any other name, so I named it Rosseau as well.

i named my town amaranth because its a pretty colour and a pretty plant, pretty simple

My town is named Oakhaven for a pretty nostalgic, sappy reason. I really loved Scooby-Doo as a little kid, and "Scooby-Do and The Witch's Ghost" was my favorite movie. The town it was set in was "Oakhaven," and I've always loved that town name and I've used it in various other games and stuff, but when I got New Leaf (my first AC game), the name just popped right back into my head!

My first town's name was Ambrose, after the town in House of Wax, which was a movie that I really enjoyed.
Ideally, it would have been Haddonfield, Briarcliff, Wasteland or Wonderland but those don't fit...
My last town's name was going to be BeachTea, for no real reason in particular.
Currently, it will be called LostLand, because Peter Pan was one of my favorite movies, along with Alice in Wonderland and the Jungle Book....So, yeah...One town I had named Banoi, because of Dead Island. Others I just thought up randomly on the spot.

My town was named after one of my pet mice Rusty, who I would call Chubba Chub as a nickname because he was a little fatty. :P
But for short I named the town Chubbs.

I wanted to name my town after something, that would make it sound dark. After Night, dark, mist and stuff like that, I decided on smoke. Smoke town. But after that I thought that it sounds too much like smoking and stuff. So I translated it into Japanese. KEMURI.

This type of thread has probably been posted a million times before, but whatevs.

As I was doing a trade over wi-fi today it suddenly dawned on me that lots of people probably wonder why the hell I named my town "Blanket".
Unfortunately I didn't name it in honor of Michael Jackson's kid.

The name "Blanket" refers to "a blanket of snow" because the town is supposed to be winter themed. My previous town was named Impala after the band Tame Impala.

What's your story?

WOW. This is my first time meeting another Tame Impala fan! Few of my friends have heard about them, and the ones that have heard about them (because I've shown it to them) hate their music :( LOVE TAME IMPALA THOUGH.

But to answer your question:

I chose ?clair not just for the sweet/cute factor but also because that dessert holds a very special place in my heart. I was born in a third world country during a time known as "The Special Period." The Soviet Union had just fallen and my country was in an economical crisis as a result of all of the political changes --The Dissolution of The Soviet Union was a very good thing IMO though, it's just that I come from a really ****ty place that depended on them for money.

BUT I DIGRESS: Things were so horrible in my country that my family barely had any money. I was an only child and my parents were both doctors but they couldn't afford to buy a lot of the things that I needed. I think they probably made maybe $15 a month as doctors... actually, they probably made a lot less since the salary for doctors is $20 a month in my country these days. But I keep getting side tracked. So seeing as how my parents couldn't really feed me on a $15 a month salary they were forced to quit their jobs. And for a while they just did a lot of random things to earn money. My mom cleaned houses for a while, dad worked at a restaurant as a chef for a few years, later on as a carpenter. Eventually though they started selling cakes and other desserts from our home. And this is when things started to look better for us.

Their most famous dessert? ?clairs --these were the ones that sold the most, the desserts that helped us put food on the table. So I named my town after that as an ode to the sacrifices my parents made for me.

Catmandu is an in joke with me and my brother. It's what we call the cat tree that our cats play on. The tiny cat tree is mini Catmandu. I also have a collie so my brother's town's name is Colliewood. (I think he spelled it Coliwood though, because of space restrictions.

With Wild World and City Folk I would just name my towns something Disney themed like Epcot, or my street name. I never played with anyone else on those games so it wasn't a big deal to me. Not that it's a huge deal now, but I wouldn't want a stock sort of name personally, or a name of a very obvious real place.

I've had two constant names for all of my restarts on New Leaf, so for my latest (and final) restart, I wanted something I hadn't had before.

I wanted a nature theme to the name, so I chose Pinecove. Pine because I like pine trees and pinecones, and cove because I was listening to the How to Train Your Dragon soundtrack and I was on the track called "The Cove" so there you go :P Also I think you could say the towns on AC:NL are a little like coves.

When I was younger I did a lot of RPing online. Fantasy stuff usually, and I created an elven character. The meaning for my rl-name translated into Quenya is Cenire. So I named her Cenire. This was also during the time I was very interested in creating websites. And liking all shades of blue, one of my first websites was named Cerulean Cenire. It was mostly Petz4 and Petz5 related topics on there. I really like the ring to it though, Cerulean Cenire, so it's been stuck with me ever since. I used it especially when I need to name places in games, like the farm in HM or the town in AC. Due to length-restrictions I usually have to drop the Cenire-part though. Which is ok, since I usually end up naming a character or pet that instead :)

Mines based of a Minecraft town I made called "Foglight." It was an ocean side town.
I just changed "light" to "peaks."

Well, let's see.... My WW town was named after the village I live in IRL because I didn't exactly know what I was doing, so I being the young fool I was named it that.

City Folk, I wanted to name it Pallet Town after the pokemon game because I was still busy trying to complete a pokemon adventure at the time (can't remember what one it was though. XD) but of course, it was too big so I had to stick with Pallet. XD

In the modern day, my main town is called Konoha... from Naruto. My town has no relation to Naruto other than the name. That's only because I started the game up on my way home after getting it and Konoha was the first name to come to mind.

My second town is called 8-Bit because in recent games, I named my main character Pixel for whatever game she would star in. In this case, it was Animal Crossing New Leaf, so it only seemed to fit that I would have her live in a town that has the gaming link. And when I thought of her name, the first thing to come to mind was 8-Bit, so that was that. XD

I named my first and only New Leaf town Owl Bend because my boyfriend likes owls and he couldn't play the game, so I wanted to make him smile. Now it's kind of taken on a life of its own with future owl-theming (still need that totem pole by my train station). I also like owls, so it's not like the theme taking flight is a particularly bad thing.

Mine's Dystopia because I love dystopian novels and movies. Not much of a story, but I think the name sounds cool.

I think that's a super cute name. Oh my goodness. I'm actually really jelly now, I love it o_o

My own town is named Bastille, after the fortress. My previous one was named Honeydew because a) I like food names and b) I was listening to Rush's "Xanadu" at the time, so I just shrugged and kinda went with that. But after resetting, I didn't want to use the same name, and idly asked my partner for suggestions... and usually I wouldn't do that, but we were listening to Rush yet again (Bastille Day!) and he mentioned that, I liked it, so it stuck. He told me he found it hilarious because it implies that I'm the warden and the animals are my prisoners. I'd... rather not think of it like that, but it does get a chuckle out of me sometimes.

I'm sorely tempted to pick up a second copy of the game so I can have another town, one that's actually themed and stuff, but I have no idea what I'd call it and I don't know if I want to spend THAT much time on New Leaf. Still, if I manage to find a cheap copy somewhere, I'll probably pick it up and come back to this thread for inspiration ;)

Laedon -- it's the name I made up for a town in a story I wrote ages ago and used it for my WW town, so now it's traditional for AC towns hah.

Phaerin -- yeah, I made it up haha. no meaning.
