This type of thread has probably been posted a million times before, but whatevs.
As I was doing a trade over wi-fi today it suddenly dawned on me that lots of people probably wonder why the hell I named my town "Blanket".
Unfortunately I didn't name it in honor of Michael Jackson's kid.
The name "Blanket" refers to "a blanket of snow" because the town is supposed to be winter themed. My previous town was named Impala after the band Tame Impala.
What's your story?
WOW. This is my first time meeting another Tame Impala fan! Few of my friends have heard about them, and the ones that have heard about them (because I've shown it to them) hate their music

LOVE TAME IMPALA THOUGH.
But to answer your question:
I chose ?clair not just for the sweet/cute factor but also because that dessert holds a very special place in my heart. I was born in a third world country during a time known as "The Special Period." The Soviet Union had just fallen and my country was in an economical crisis as a result of all of the political changes --The Dissolution of The Soviet Union was a very good thing IMO though, it's just that I come from a really ****ty place that depended on them for money.
BUT I DIGRESS: Things were so horrible in my country that my family barely had any money. I was an only child and my parents were both doctors but they couldn't afford to buy a lot of the things that I needed. I think they probably made maybe $15
a month as doctors... actually, they probably made a lot less since the salary for doctors is $20 a month in my country these days. But I keep getting side tracked. So seeing as how my parents couldn't really feed me on a $15 a month salary they were forced to quit their jobs. And for a while they just did a lot of random things to earn money. My mom cleaned houses for a while, dad worked at a restaurant as a chef for a few years, later on as a carpenter. Eventually though they started selling cakes and other desserts from our home. And this is when things started to look better for us.
Their most famous dessert? ?clairs --these were the ones that sold the most, the desserts that helped us put food on the table. So I named my town after that as an ode to the sacrifices my parents made for me.
