I mainly stick with my mayor as my main character, ( obviously ) and I'm thinking of spicing things up a bit. A secondary character. This is where you guys come in. What are your purposes of having a secondary character? I mean, you can go around town, get your badges again, get new sets for your house, have a new face that's different from your mayor, etc. I'm usually stuck on the name though if it comes for secondary characters. What names would you guys suggest? :)

Many pathing sets have 10 or more patterns and many people use a secondary character to lay said paths which free their main's pattern inventory for custom clothing designs.

I used my middle name for my secondary villagers name.

Are there any other purposes? Like maybe a character to go on when your bored other than your mayor character? :)

My purposes for secondary characters is because of the limited pattern slots, but also because there are so many ideas and themes I'd like to carry out, that one house just isn't enough. :P As for the characters themselves, sometimes they just evolve depending on what I do with their house, but one of my characters was based off of Jonathan Crane from Batman, and the other is Mimi from Super Paper Mario. :D

So the sky's the limit for what you what you want to do with your secondary characters, they're very fun though!

Another practical reason could be to prevent new villagers from moving into a spot that you want to save for a future pwp or dream villager house.
Otherwise I think a lot of people create both male and female villagers to further flesh out their town.

extra character to play once u finished just about everything. mule character to hold path patterns,
extra storage space. extra room to decorate if your mansion just isnt enough. if your town is themed you can create a character to fit the theme (a princess or knight in a fairy tale themed town, a witch in a halloween town, maybe ur towns themed from ur favorite anime and you wanna make a character from it etc)

I considered making my alt's house the 7-11 theme and dressing him as a clerk, but for now he's using themes I like that won't fit in my main's house.

I'm actually planning to add a second character as I want to use patterns in my town. Not to mention more space for furniture sets I can't fit in my main house.

Personally, for me, it's for paths. One character has a 10 piece path and the other character has waterways and flower boxes. I decorated their homes too :) I'm never bored on my mayor character...so I'll rarely play as the other characters.

I will have 3 extra characters. Right now I have 2 until I'm done with Hazel to move in Pekoe and plot set. But I use mine for stores/restaurants. I have a sushi spot that will have a bunch of different theme rooms and a Bakery with a coffee shop. My last house will be a 7-11 store. Plus to store qr codes since I'm attempting paths finally.

I have a second one as the opposite gender in case of specific holidays or events (like girls day/boys day) so i can get all the items. xD i also use it as extra storage for dlc/unorderable items that i dont really use but might want someday. i maxed out and filled up my regular house so it was also fun to pay off a second house and design more rooms. also very handy for pattern storage like many others have said. it can be good for trading too if you just keep all the stuff you know you want to trade on a 2nd char and then wifi with them so you don't have to root through your mayors inventory or clutter up your town by laying everything on the ground

The purpose of having my 2nd char, the only 2nd I wouldn't have 3rd and 4th, is because I am the mayor and I need an assistant, mainly to store bushes, fruits, etc and etc and also I make his house sloppy with gardening tools, gardening room and so on because he kinda "work for my mayor", so yea.

For me it's mostly decorative purposes - one house just ain't big enough! Also for paths. I also read that a 2nd character might be useful when checking for movers but haven't gotten much feedback on that yet.

I had a secondary character for a little while so that I could have more paths and store more items. I got tired of seeing the secondary's house though because my town is already small enough and I felt like the 2nd house was clogging it. I deleted the character like a week ago and I kiiind of regret it now, haha.

I still use a second character for plot resetting though! but I obviously delete that character.

Secondary characters are great for a lot of things. I made my first secondary character just for the stalk market. If I found someone online with high turnip prices in their town and willing to let other people come and sell, I would time travel to Sunday, fill my entire closet with turnips, and then go to their town and sell turnips. A lot of people do this or something similar to this.

I also made 2 more characters (so I have 4 now). All their houses are completely expanded, but I still do not have enough space for all of my stuff.

Another benefit is that you can buy more than 1 piece of art from Redd on the same day.

Another is you can buy more from HHA everyday.

You just have more space in general. You don't have to limit your house to just one theme.

However if I had to do it over again, I would just have 3 characters, not 4. So I could use the trick with the 4th slot to move my villagers if I don't like where they put their house.

Storage and houses!

My mayor's name is Momayo, so my secondary characters are named Naneya and Ruriyu c:
