What's the last movie you've seen?

In theaters: Iron Lung 🫁 🩸
Interesting and confusing. The
horror is good but I was bored for a lot of it.

I watched Housemaid.

Loved Amanda Seyfried in it, and the story was alright. Lots of plot holes, though. I also feel like the film took a lot of inspo from Gone Girl/Girl on the Train.

Watched How to Train Your Dragon. It's such a good movie, rewatching it made me want to rewatch the entire franchise lol. I remember really enjoying Race to the Edge when I was younger, so I might go for that after I see the second one again

Back on the 6th, the Shudder streaming service had their February episode of The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs and it was a haunted house-themed night.

The first movie they showed was the original 1959 version of The House on Haunted Hill which was directed by William Castle. It's a movie I've seen multiple times and that I tend to watch in October as part of my horror movie marathons, so I obviously enjoy it and didn't mind watching it again.

The second movie they showed was director Ti West's 2011 movie The Innkeepers, something I had never seen before. I found it very boring and unsatisfying. It doesn't do anything you haven't seen done better in other movies, it feels awkwardly put together and it's ultimately just forgettable and unremarkable.

On the 7th, I decided I wanted to revisit one of my favorite movies, director John Carpenter's 1982 movie The Thing. It's not necessarily a yearly viewing because I always like for it to be all snowy and cold outside and sometimes that doesn't happen and I don't get around to it. I had intended to watch it a few weeks ago when we had the heavy snowfall around the country and the extreme wind chills, but this year has been stressful and I wasn't in the headspace where I would've enjoyed it fully at the time. The snow was still on the ground on the 7th and it was still cold, so hey, it was still an appropriate setting anyway. Glad I revisited it since it's always a great time.

Finally, earlier tonight I revisited director George Mihalka's original 1981 version of My Bloody Valentine. It had been a number of years since the last time I'd watched it; I think Netflix still had the DVD mailing service the last time I watched it, so it's been a while. I think I liked it more the first time I watched it those years ago, but it's still enjoyable enough for what it is.

Holy moly, Joe Bob Briggs is still doing his thing? I had no idea, thats amazing!! Way back when, I watched him hosting old movies on late night television! So entertaining!

Also, John Carpenter's The Thing is one of my all time favorites! My NH Island is actually named Outpost 31. Funny story, I didnt always like it... in fact it scared the crap out of me and gave me nightmares 😆. I was 7 or 8 years old and my Mom and younger brothers were away and visiting family, so my dad thought it would be a good Father and Son bonding time by renting a movie at the local movie store. I wanted to watch a bunch of Disney movies, and he said "I think we should watch this one, I heard its great". So I trusted his judgment 😆

Early in the movie, when the scene comes up with the dog in the kennel... and well... you know what happens next... I was traumatized 😆

I watched the movie in full as an adult years later and realized how brilliant the movie was! It truly is a great movie! But I have to be in the right mood for it!

Can't remember if I posted this one already (I don't think I did), but I watched Leap otherwise known as Ballerina depending on where you get it from. It wasn't great, the mc is kind of a prick

Watched Ice Age Continental Drift yesterday, and it was a let down. It was really different to the rest of the movies in its violence levels so I wasn't expecting it (I don't care about violence in movies, but this was so out of the blue). Also them skipping from Peaches being born in the third film to her being a teenager was weird. The only really entertaining parts were the Scrat scenes, especially the Scratlantis thing at the end lmao

I got the movie Flow on my birthday and that was like 4 months ago? I just watched it a few days ago. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the idea of the movie sounded fun and cute. It was a really cute movie with the animals, but it felt like they had so many separate ideas they wanted to try that didn't really lead anywhere. And it was like they wanted to have the animals behave like animals would, but then would throw in human traits. I wouldn't had minded either approach, but they should've picked a lane. Overall it was nice. Not great or bad.

How to Train your Dragon is a great movie! I finally got around to watching the 2nd film two years ago? And it was good, but I enjoyed the original more. I never watched the live action, but if it's anything like the dime a dozen ones they keep churning out it probably was just a soulless cash grab. I never watched the Lilo and Stich LA either.

I watched Life of Pi with my boyfriend since he finished reading the book for class. I really enjoyed it! Even though some parts are sad, I loved the story and the visuals. Definitely a good movie!

I watched Spirited Away for the first time in years the other day, but only the Spanish dub was available. Lucky me I know Spanish, so I was able to understand what everyone was saying.

It's a good movie, but it's not a movie I continue to think about afterward, unlike, say, Kung Fu Panda 2 or the first Shrek movie, which have themes and messages that are much stronger imo

Even after years, those two movies still stick with me.

Someone actually recommended the live action to me today, but despite their insistence that it's good, they're notorious for their bad taste in movies lol. But almost every live action I've seen trailers for seem so genuinely terrible that it's turned me off the concept of live actions of cartoons

Well my sister said the Emojis movie was great so you know...don't always take what you hear lol.

Last movie I saw in theaters was Iron lung and it was pretty good but you could definitely tell it was made by a novice director. And at home I watched space chimps again like two days ago. It was weird but funny just like I remembered it lol.

Watched the first two Men in Black movies recently, they were pretty entertaining overall. The first one was definitely better and more enjoyable than the second, but the second wasn't terrible. Just weird and disappointing. I liked the morgue worker in the first one, I wish she was also in the second! They didn't push the romance angle as much in the og movie, so that probably one of the reasons I prefer it. The jokes in the first one were way funnier too, the second film had some... uncomfortable jokes too often for my own liking.

I watched a few movies in the past couple months so hopefully I remember them all lol.

Song of the Sea - Loved this movie, though I cried at some points. ;-;

Smile - Loved it too, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time!

Freaky Friday - Some jokes were funny but I didn't really enjoy it...

Scary Movie 2 - It sucked, but I guess it's just one of those "so bad it's good" movies. :v

Umamusume: Pretty Derby - Beginning of a New Era - I was skeptical because I didn't think a movie about horse girls would be interesting, but I liked the movie a lot more than I thought. It was engaging and I loved the visuals.

Oh my goodness, I think I remember watching that movie when it came out years ago as a little kid. Is that the animated film about these two kids and the selkies? I don't remember much of it, but the name is ringing bells for me. I think I remember there being a fluffy white dog named Tarbh (but that could be coming from my primary school Irish book 💀)
