What's the big deal with Marshal?

I don't really get the obsession either. I do think that Marshal is cute, I love his grumpy little face. But there are a lot of smugs who I like more than him. Kyle, for example, is probably my favorite villager in the game.

I think people like him so much cause hes small and cute and to be honest he reminds me of a nedroid chibi figure...except he moves.Also I'd like to say his freaking face totally mismatches his personality. Like people who make those polls asking which villager to choose - umm, it's your choice? It's only based on looks, so choose the one you like the look of!

I only really like Marshal because, well, I like villagers with sort of normal designs (Margie, for example). And I don't have any smugs yet, and am having bad luck getting one of them in my campsite. Also, glad to see another Caroline fan! I got her for free on here not too long ago.

I wouldnt necessarily call him justin bieber bc the thing that baffled me about jb is that he was a legitimate whiny brat and all the qurls STILL loved him. with marshal, hes just a small white squirrel I guess. I originally wasnt fond of any of the smugs and just put marshal as my smug dreamie bc I couldnt pick a better one,which is funny bc now I have 2 smug dreamies lmfao

hes cuter in game than in pics admittedly. I had a friend who had him in her town and he was her favorite villager, and I agreed he was rather cute. it isnt a matter of being dull- fang, the most popular wolf villager, has the dullest color scheme/design of all of them. like he legitimately, for a fact, has the dullest color scheme. it all depends on how cute/pretty they are. infact generic/dull things often are the cute/popular things bc the only reason we consider them generic is because theyre popular.

I thought people liked Marshal because he was a representation of the hot, romanticized, emo guy that's popular in Japanese comic books -- IE Kiryu Zero from the series Vampire Knight. That's why he always looks grumpy or sad, despite the fact that he's a Smug villager.

I agree. I don't pay much attention to the popularity charts. My favorite villager is Static because my favorite color is purple and I like the lightning design on his head. I personally don't like Marshall much, but I think it is cute that he is like a marshmallow.

PFFF Fang is the most colorful original little snowflake compared to Daisy and Goldie.

To me I like Blaire and Poppy more. Marshal is cute and I do have him, but he is not my favorite villager though I do like him.

it's not that i think marshal is particularly amazing (though i do really like him :3) it's just that i'm not crazy on any of the other smugs. i really didn't like julian when i had him (though, that was a while ago, maybe i'd like him better now). the only animal i can see myself getting other than marshmallow is o'hare, who looks like such a lil cutie pie with his little hat

When I first joined TBT I saw Marshal everywhere, so I thought he must be some sort of amazing villager. I thought he'd at least be some sort of different creature like Julian being a unicorn and all, but nope, just a plain old squirrel that seems to sell for ridiculous amounts of bells....

I like Marshal because he reminds me of my pet dog, Kiby. None of the other dog villagers really look like my dog because they're not fluffy-tailed/small enough. My dog also has an underbite, so Kiby looks grumpy like Marshal.

When I finally got Marshal, I was kinda underwhelmed. His smug personality seems a bit off. Marshal is definitely better off as a cranky. When he flirts, he's so short I feel like a pedo

Unrelated to OP, but I wish they would improve the dog villager designs in future editions of ACNL (ex. poodle, shih tzu, etc).

After Marshal moved unexpectedly from my town, I noticed the smug personality didn't have much selection. Maybe that's why? A lot of people also have mostly girl villagers in their towns & they're looking for the pale not-so masculine villagers to adopt.
