What to do with a second town?

I picked up a second copy of ACNL yesterday, the new ACNL:WA actually, and was trying to figure out what I wanted to do with it. I know there are several players here who have multiple towns, so my question is how did you approach your second, third, etc. towns? Did you make one theme based or with a specific goal or did you create a cycling town?

I'm currently leaning towards creating a cycling town for fun since my main town is no where near finished in terms of PWP and plot resetting my villagers. Luckily, I decided to forego paths :P

I made mine into a whole other theme with ten more villagers cause I have too many favourite villagers. X3

This is what I did, but with three extra towns. I could've made a cycling town, but my first step is always to choose the perfect town name. Then comes matching my mayor and alt characters to the town name, then comes a theme based around the town name and yeah. I'm too much of a fangirl for too many things, lol. So far, I have:

A town very loosely based around Gallifrey of Doctor Who, but with bunnies.
Another based around Gilead from The Dark Tower.
Nibel Forest from Ori and the Blind Forest,
And Oeilvert from Final Fantasy IX, complete with my versions of chocobos, moogles, and the Phoenix summon.

I'd probably do a cycling town since I'd be too devoted to my first town to spend that much effort on another one. Plus, with cycling you can help people finish their towns and everyone is happy lol

@Corrie: Nice! I don't have set favorites minus a handful and they'll move into my main town with other random villagers so this option is out for me.

@HopeForHyrule: Oh my gosh. I would love to see your Doctor Who and Final Fantasy towns. Do you have dream addresses for them? I have tossed around the idea of a Harry Potter town but I feel like it is so played out :\ I've also thought about doing Zootopia with the different climate zones but I'm not quite sure how I would pull that off...

@Jennyrae: That's pretty much where I'm at. My main town still needs work and it's almost caught to RL date/time which means less TTing in that town. I also think it would be neat if I could set up a catalogue shop too. My catalogue isn't complete but I have all the oderable furniture sets so that's something, maybe? Plus, I just want to see new types of villagers :D

@hoodathotit: Story of my life (ACNL and IRL) now and always.

Originally I had my second copy for a cycling town, to collect lucky clovers, perfect fruit, and to get badges for the mayor of my main town. Now that I do not need these things I made my second town a themed one. I made it into a dog park so all of my villagers are dogs and I made it look like an actual park but as nice as it is it will never replace my main.

There are tons of stuff you can do with a second town! You can make a different themed town, you could use that town to experiment new town designs and more! Even using it for resets to get something you want is fine too! If I were you I would probably be more creative and make a new theme, or I would use that as an alternate town for resets or getting villagers you want. Man, I wish I had a second copy! Haha! Anyway good luck, and remember you dont need to use these suggestions! Oh yea, forgot to mention haha! You could also use the second town to get some badges for visiting your train station, if you get the reference, yup. Anyway an alternate town is great to have if you get bored with your main town.

You can create a new theme and have new villagers without having to delete your old town. Or you can use it for cycling, storing villagers you want to keep, ect.

(I secretly secretly want to make a town called Glory and build my house on the edge of the map so I can say "I'm on the edge of Glory", im hilarious ik)

@Fruitcup: That's a real possibility. I could cycle my town but still work on the landscaping on the side. I've never really done an all-out themed town, but I'm sure it'll take me long enough that I could cycle for awhile before settling in.

@nSound: I definitely plan on using the same copy to get the visitor badge since I'm fortunate enough to have a new and old 3DS (I tend to use the old 3DS when I play with other since I like being able to flip the switch in case someone is less than kosher).

@forestnye: ... that is a GREAT idea. You should totally DO IT!

When I got my 2nd copy I used it for buying items, growing weeds and perfect fruit.
I than made it into my visitor town where all my online friends can drop by. My main town is off limit for visitors.
There is lots of places to sit in lazytown. Three of the houses have different themes.

When I started my 4th town I made sure to start at the end of May. Cut down most of the trees, caught the tarantula and scorpion and than made it a real town. It's so much easier to catch those bugs when the town isn't developed.

Having extra town set in a different season and different times helps. Playing 4 fishing tournaments in one day would be too much.

@stitchmaker: Oh I like the idea of a visitor town! I've been playing solo mostly for ACNL so I'm a bit nervous about having visitors in my main town. It's odd because I used to have strangers come over all the time when I was playing ACWW. I agree with you about the bug hunting early on in the game. It took me awhile to finish my museum in my main town :\

@Merryweather It's a lot of fun having a visitor town. The first year I hosted a Pave Day and everyone could run anywhere.
At the time I cut all the trees down and it was easy to get the feathers.
I also left items on the beach to catalog and items at the train station that were free. At the time I wasn't worried about a town rating.

I did mine with a theme in mind, I mostly just wanted more rooms to decorate and to be able to experience new villagers. It's also a good way to get to re-live old challenges like completing the museum and whatnot!

My second town is currently a cycling town, but once I raise enough bells from selling villagers in that town and get my dream villagers for my main town I plan on making it into a second town but with a theme. Perhaps fairytale themed? Not sure yet, but I might make it species themed as well =) (for example, having all ten of my villagers being deer)

Hope this gave you any ideas :0
