so I was hitting the bell rock with my shovel and everything was going great until frickign Margie came right up next to me so I accidentally talked to her while pressing A to hit the rock I was only able to hit it like 4 times before she did that!!! argh

Whenever I start smashing the bell rock, I always dig some holes around the rock to 'lock' myself in place, so I don't accidentally talk to any villagers passing by or get pushed around by one.

Also had patterns around a rock - a few squares and then only got like three bags.

that's a good idea lol

I always just dig 2 right behind my character so I don't get pushed back but I'll definitely try your method next time

My biggest problem is that when I hit the rocks I tend to forget that you get knocked back a bit and then I end up digging holes instead.

I don't really use the money rock. When I do I make 3holes behind so I can get all the bells.

Yeah, that happens. You can do the holes trick, or use bushes to segregate areas around the rocks to limit the sides they can approach you on. I've had them come by as I was whacking it, and had the same issue, it's like SHUT UP, I'M ON A TIMER HERE!!

Ah I know that happened to me too. I would do the holes trick or make sure no villagers are around when banging on the money rock

I use the bell rock every time I play, but it definitely is frustrating to have to dig those holes with every rock.

if you have trouble with this again, I recommend smashing the villager with your shovel and stealing their bells. it's what they get for getting in the mayor's way.

Yeah it's an annoyance :-( however I do the same as some, the holes trick. Either that or just see if anyone is around, if not then I go to town on that Mr Rock!
