What the heck Nintendo?

Don't get me wrong, I love the option of downloadable, but when I'm forced to download, I get upset. What the heck is up with Nintendo right now? I went to Gamestop (NA EB Games), and I was told that I could not buy a physicial copy of Fire Emblem: Awakening for 4 more weeks. Apparently, Nintendo promised more copies to the store than shipped. So most pre-order costomers didn't get their orders. This is because Nintendo wanted to push digital sales. Why Nintendo? Why?

I really hope this isn't going to be a trend with other 3DS games.. If I have to download ACNL from the eShop due to gamestop shortages, I'm gonna be pissed. I like having a physical copy.

I enjoy digital copies, especially of games that I play all the time, because I hate carrying my games with me. However it's understandable why people would want physical copies. It's ridiculous that people didn't get their pre-orders.

I managed to pick it up at Wal Mart, but only after I kept pestering the salesperson about it. They only had three copies in boxes in the back of the store. I've heard Wal Mart is one of the few stores that actually had physical copies, but they're mostly gone now.

In some stores they were released early in canada. A lot of people got it early x_x

That sucks. I want a physical copy for all my games.

The point of pre-ordering is to get a guaranteed copy :c

I can see this happening to me when AC:NL comes out..

I'm 50/50 I have both downloaded and physical copies! Downloadable I found are a little more expensive but for the luxury of not carrying or losing the physical

I am totally about the pissed-at-Nitendo for short stocking their games to force e-shop sales. It's cheap. It's not what we want, Nintendo. What can we do? How to convince Nintendo to stop it? I highly recommend not buying games from the eShop. I'm not buying Fire Emblem at all, even though I'd planned to, because I am so pissed at Nintendo's thinly veiled lies about "shipping mistakes" and needing to manufacture more cartridges (the excuse for NL in Japan). I'm eager to see what lame excuse comes from Luigi's Mansion, and eventually, Animal Crossing.

I should become an investigative journalist and get to the bottom of Nintendos' lies.
I think it should be in the popular media when a company starts displeasing it's audiences so.

I think people need to stop jumping to conclusions and assuming there is an ulterior motive here. You don't know if there were actual shipping delays or not.

^Yeah, the game's worth the wait. And if you don't feel like waiting, go ahead and download it on the eShop. It's a brilliant game that shouldn't be missed because someone's angry at Nintendo.

I guess I can be a little paranoid. But when you're a company as professional and organized at Nintendo--- I really don't believe it <:]
But really the eShop is not a smart idea. At all.
I've used the same $120 for probably 3 years now to buy and sell videogames.
I buy a game (i.e. $40 Harvest Moon) play it for two weeks solid, beat it, bored with it, so I go on Amazon and sell my items back for roughly 80%-90% of what I paid for it. So I'd get $32 back from a $40 game. So really the game only cost me $8. I do keep games that have constant replay value or that I loved so much I really cannot bring myself to part with them.

Items from the e-shop are an instant drain with no re-sale value. Nintendo sells more this way. A LOT MORE. <:/
We'll see whether or not I'm "jumping to conclusions" when Luigi's Mansion comes out, and Animal Crossing too.
I foresee more shipping problems. More cartridge shortages in stores. More issues on the physical end period.

I like the digital copies because you can't lose them.

I'd never lose a physical copy of my games. All my games are carefully put back into their cases and placed on my shelf when I'm not using them. The only way I could lose one of my games is if someone besides me gets their hands on them.

I refuse to buy games digitally because I like having that physical copy as proof I actually spent my money on something. Plus if my 3DS breaks I still have the game when I buy a new one.

Sounds like something you should discuss with your parents, considering games are pretty expensive nowadays and it's not something that should be lost willy-nilly. o.o;

Keep in mind that Fire Emblem was a Monday release which is uncommon for Nintendo so that may have caused the problems at least in part.

Threads like this make me sad. =/

Nintendo isn't at the fault here. One store didn't have anymore in stock.
You still have the option to download it, and the option to go to another store.
