I have a silver shovel, and I've been using it for a little while now, but so far nothing has changed.

What makes the silver tools better (other than the fact they look cooler when I run around town with them).

^^^ That tells you how to unlock them, not what the special traits are.

The shovel can get you gems from the money rocks(kinda rare though)
The silver fishing rod makes fishing TOO easy! I swear you don't even have to try when you use that, the fish will always go to the bait.
The axe will occasionally produce rare stumps.
The watering can waters more than one at a time.
The net...not sure. I guess the range is bigger on it.

Silver net is bigger than normal net (bigger range to catch bugs)
Silver rod gives you a little more time to press 'A' once a fish has bit the bait
Silver slingshot shoots two pellets
Silver shovel allows a slight chance for the money rock to turn into an "ore rock"
Silver watering can waters 5 plants at once
Silver axe makes every tree you cut down have a special stump

Every tree you cut down with a silver axe?

Yep it breaks...

Takes longer but it will eventually break. The way to prolong it is to use a normal axe for the first 2 hits then use the silver to produce special stump

Does the Silver Axe break?

It was some other member here that discovered how you can whack a tree a few times w/ a reg. axe & then switch to the Silver axe on the death swing which WILL prolong it's life. Just to clarify, carry one of each axe. Good luck!

Ack, I'm blind. Sprout has it.

The silver axe trick works very well. I just need one more special stump pattern and my axe just barely started breaking. I also had several duplicates.
