I just completed the
Drinking Fountain. Water does come out of it when touched, but it would be cool if the character or a villager could lean in and take a sip.
Prior to that I completed:
The
Windmill which looks very cool. The little window is illuminated at night. Good placement is key for this one - some empty space is needed all around for it to work (hard to do in my now cramped town). Surrounding the base with light and dark purple violets made it look like it's been there for years. I like how you can see it turning in the background as you cross the bridge that connects River South with River North.
The
Lighthouse which is placed right on a cliff overlooking my southern beach is one of my favorites. When you're down on the beach, you can see the beacon turning on top at night (even as you board the boat to the island - nice background touch). I placed alternating red and white flowers all around the base to compliment the iconic stripe/color of the lighthouse itself.
The
Fire-pit (which is larger than it should be) is placed right outside/next to the
Campsite nook nestled in its own patch of trees. The Fire-pit is overlooking the lake (great photo ops) and the Campsite is overlooking the river spilling into the ocean.
I placed a
Yellow Bench in my 'yard' (waiting for the 'Wooden Bench' to be requested) to avoid villagers moving in next to me. Another Yellow Bench was placed at the north western waterfall to preserve a sitting area with a calming setting. A few yards up I placed the
Fountain surrounded by red tulips to isolate my home's area even more. Once the more traditional looking 'Wooden Bench' is requested, the yellow benches will be replaced.
I have 5 traditional
Street Lamps placed around my town usually by corners, bridges and other common areas. Each one has flowers surrounding each base. At night, the light glows and creates a very warm setting while wandering around.
I am patiently waiting for my villagers to request the Police Station and Hammock. I cannot wait to plop down on a hammock outside during the day, and at night to watch the stars.

Assuming that the hammock is actually usable, of course. I tend to stay away from PWP that don't do anything (like the Water Well - that could have been a very cool PWP if it had functionality).
Forgot to mention the
Dream Suite and the
Cafe. I placed the Cafe in its own little area. This bit of land has the river wrapped around and is accessible by a bridge when heading over from the west. Like most things in my town, the cafe is nestled within a patch of trees.
I also forgot to mention the '
Fence'. I placed it behind the Town Hall to avoid a villager's home being placed there. I have it surrounded by trees (of course) and have baskets of fruit place inside. It looks like a harvest stand, and serves as the 'goto' for when my villagers request fruit. There are always batches of fresh (and perfect) fruit when needed without having to shake a tree or go to your pocket storage closets.
