I'm literally all about online play, if a game doesn't have random match-up online, it's seriously disappointing. maybe this says too much about how much of a loner i can be whoops
Most of the time I prefer playing in single player. There's only a few games such as Smash Bros or Mario Kart where it's "me vs the world" where I'll happily play online because I don't have to interact with anybody and whether I win or lose is all down to my own skill.
Random matches with random strangers in my team...eugh...I can't stand this. I always get stuck with a bunch of screaming, bad mouthed children or end up losing really badly because my team mates are busy trying to shoot the floor (as you can tell, I'm pretty competitive).
Not having online multiplayer as an option in most games is really annoying though. Due to work schedules and the distance me and my IRL friends live from each other, it's hard for us to get together and play couch co-op despite how much we enjoy doing so. When we do eventually find the time to hang out, we don't want to do it vegetating in front of a TV, we want to do other fun things we can't do normally.
Whilst I like that Nintendo is the only company really still trying to give local multiplayer to us, I dislike how much they ignore online...Especially with games such as Hyrule Warriors or Monster Hunter 3DS which I would love to play Multiplayer, but likely never will (thank God MH WiiU has online).
By trying to force local multiplayer and promote gaming socially, they're kind of making multiplayer inaccessible to a lot of people when in this day and age, it should be easily available to all.
While I prefer to play game single player, it would be nice to throw on a microphone and play with some friends online through games like Super Mario 3D World or New Super Mario U. Games that are obviously meant to bring people together in real life, yet nobody I know in real life ever actually wants to sit down and play. Or those that do brought their own console/controllers so we play on their save. :/
